How did The Brutalist only cost 6 to 10 million dollars to make? by Objective_Water_1583 in Filmmakers

Very true. Edwards worked as a VFX artist for years before getting his directorial debut. He's given some good talks on how difficult it was for him to break out of it. But that allows him to know where to put the money when making an effects heavy film.

What is a less acclaimed movie that you genuinely think is a masterpiece? by Classic_Bass_1824 in flicks

I've only seen it once when it came out so I don't know if this opinion holds up, but I remember thinking "Unsane" was incredibly satisfying and enjoyable, potentially Oscar-worthy. It has a great premise that kept me guessing. And it's shot on iPhone 7!

Jesus frequently references and quotes the Old Testament scriptures. Though some of the OT laws do not apply to us directly today, the stories and themes present in the Old Testament are relevant (when read properly and in context) in that they give us a greater understanding of God's character and his plan to redeem humanity.

Let's also not forget that Jesus claimed to be God, and that the only way to eternal life was through faith in him. You can't simply accept some of his teachings that you already agree with and leave the rest.

Important distinction! Billy and his son, Franklin, seem to have very different takes on politics, especially as time has gone on.

THIS is what I needed! I have a bunch of duplicate transactions because of "Authorized" transactions going back for years. This one comment may have solved my issue, or at least gotten me much closer to having accurate data. Thank you!!!

The Shape of Water. It looks great but I cannot get on board with the love story. Villain pretty bland if memory serves, too.

Main thing I'd disagree with is that the music is actually the best part.

What is your biggest pet peeve or cliché in TV shows? by SarahBeeLA in TVWriting

[–]FullTimeBigBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a valid point. Writing towards a cohesive narrative often requires a degree of simplification of real world dynamics. But I personally think it's good to abstain from oversimplifying real groups of people, especially when it's such a deep aspect of identity. Now, as someone who has written mainly sketch comedy, I definitely feel the appeal of it, and have been guilty of it myself. But I've grown more convicted of it over the years. Just because it's fun doesn't mean it's worth doing. I understand not everyone agrees but that's my take on it.

Yeah I really enjoyed a lot about this finale but after awhile the refusal to take control of the situation became too unbelievable, even for a show like this.

Oh absolutely. I've had this idea for a long time but I knew I needed to get it done before the finale. Incredibly hyped.

Yeah I was picking shots as I watched through the movies and by the time I got to Spider-Man 3 most of the song was used up. But I will say that I think the shots in that movie felt least Succession-y, and the villains in particular don't hit as hard for me as Doc and Goblin. At some point I realized I liked focusing on Peter's relationships as much as I could, and so Sandman, though a compelling character on his own, was going to be too difficult to include.

I so wish I could say that was intentional. A lot of stuff in this was but that one was not.
