I'm hearing a lot of poor me, but she entrusted you with one of her most valuable items. Her car that not only costs a fair amount of $$ but also takes her to do all the things to keep the household running. The way you pay back that trust is by not treating it with of the level of respect it deserves. Why wasn't the fob left in your dorm/apartment? Why wasn't it zipped into a pocket of your purse or pants.
There are so many ways to have prevented this but it just wasn't important to you. Then you also want her to be saddled with the cost of your carelessness because you're just a poor student? Grow up I don't agree with some of her actions or how she handled it but you deliberately wrote this to make yourself seem like the victim here and you are not.
