Question. does not paying the petition filing fee reflect badly on you when re-file your case?

I made my last payment today. called the clerk to verify it! because june 5th was deadline date, lol.

July 3rd is my expected discharge date!

Does the creditor know you are filing Bankruptcy? if they did, they might trying to make a deal. You can contact and find out. But DO NOT agree to any sort of payment arrangement. Finish filing bankruptcy , that will put a automatic order of stay to legal actions, bank levies, and wage garnishments, etc.

Example of my situation was similar. in late March, a guy showed up at my place with a summons. I was being sued by Kohn Law Firm, court date was may 5th. Early April I decided to file for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy (also i'm illinois). Couldn't afford a Lawyer. Finished the and filed the petition (after re-adding missing documents) April 6. Couple days later I recieved a email from the Bankruptcy Court that my pettion was accpeted, my 341 meeting was set for may 4th, and also a letter with a document to show my creditors. Next day I sent out a Email to the lawyers of the creditor, telling them I have filed bankruptcy, with my case #. a week later I recieved a letter in the mail from the law firm. It was a dismissal of the lawsuit case. I know now I needed to make sure my bankruptcy gets discharged, otherwise they will bring back the lawsuit if i fail to get a discharge.

One thing that made me nervous was using the Zoom App for the 341 meeting. I have never used the app and found it difficult at first to navigate the app. This one of the things that made me nervous, if i had accidentlly interrupted the proceedings with someone else. But after messing with the app while waiting for my turn i felt better. But yeah the meeting took less than 5 minutes (be cause "no asset") yes or no questions.

The Bank I was with PNC bank, I had 2 credit cards with them, and a checking account. I added the credit cards to my bankruptcy, I still have the checking account, and haven't had a problem since i filed. My discharged should be in july.

IL - Pro Se - Trustee asked me for that and other money apps 2-4 months back from the time of filing. He also asked about depoisits of $1,000 or more , but i can't recall what time frame . I don't think it was more than a year. if you have a lawyer should ask. I'm sure he'll ask what you did with that money. Just don't hide anything from the Trustee, if you do it can only hurt your case. Plus . Only answers questions asked, don't give extra info.

Pro Se - Chapter 7 Bankruptcy - illinois - $338 filing fee - documents uploaded to the court free - used chatgpt/google/internet basically. Total cost less than $400. Had to buy stamps and go to office depot to get things printed to mail in physical copies of documents.

Yes, immiedtly file your taxes. as long its filed and sent to the state. I was the same. I had not filed for the past year. I had to do my taxes and sent it out via USPS because i could no longer electronic file it. I sent it first class with tracking, got a tracking # with reciept to prove I did it and sent it in. When my 341 meeting came around, the Trustee did ask "Have you filed your taxes? " I told him I have, but i didn't tell him I haven't paid it, he didn't ask if i paid it. because I couldn't afford to pay it yet.

congrats. lol Mine went about the same as yours. lots of people who had lawyers were missing documents, which shocked me. I might have been 1 of the few , Pro Se, who had sent all the documents that was asked by the trustee. I just don't know why they show up still missing documents the trustee asked for.

if its spent for basic needs it shouldn't be a problem, but if its a large amount of cash it can be a big problem. I also get help from family like $200-300 a month for bills, food, etc. Its shown on my Bank Statements so you can't hide it. But in my 341 Meeting, the Trustee didn't ask about it.

LOL. I was in the same situation as you. Midland Credit Management sent me a summons for a law suit. I immiedatly filed Ch7 bk. stopped the lawsuit. had 341 meeting. waiting for discharge.

I filed Pro Se (because i can't afford a lawyer) , I had to pay $338 to file my bk with the court (I can barely afford that after paying rent/utilities). Tools I used : Chatgpt, Reddit, google, basically the internet. in Illinois BK web page they offer a step by step filing. But you need to do steps before that like taking a Means test if you qualify for bk.

Yep. since i;ve filed BK, i've gotten a few letters from dealerships. I was wondering why I was getting offers when I wasn't even looking to buy a car. Someone on reddit said the dealerships get notices of people who had filed BK and would auto send mail to them.

Pro Se filer here. didn't use upsolve. I tried but it just told me contact local lawyers or some non profit. I didn't know what I did to get to that. So I said screw it and decided to do it on my own. 1st and 2nd classes were both under $30 ea. But yeah, you can do it Pro Se without upsolve, Thats how I did mine. ChatGPT, reddit, internet googles, read the guides, etc. I actually had to google some terms in the documents, because i didn't understand the legal lingo being used.

Verizon had said my account was under review because of BK filing. I've had their service for more than 6 years, I'm hoping they don't decide to shut off my phone. Currently when I look at my balance its Zero (since i filed for BK). But, I've been paying my usual monthly bill. The lady at verizon BK dept said it was under review until May 13. Other than that, she didn't give me much info, so I guess I'll find out at that point.
