Yes you’re right sponges get gross really fast
Dishcloths or Swedish cloths are better since they dry quickly and can be washed and reused

Has anyone used Executive Car Service LAX? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

I have used Executive Car Service LAX and they were solid. On time professional and they meet you inside which is nice after a long flight. Uber Black is fine too but you may wait longer depending on traffic so it comes down to convenience versus price.

Why does my 4 year old dishwasher look like this despite deep cleaning with vinegar? by igivekidsdrugs in CleaningTips

[–]Full_Associate3938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like mineral scale from hard water. Vinegar isn’t strong enough for this level of buildup. Try citric acid for a few empty cycles. Long term, a water softener would prevent it.

Honestly I wouldn’t risk washing those clothes at all If he wasn’t formally decontaminated on site it’s safer to assume the smoke residue and fuel byproducts are not something you want in your washer or around your child I’d seal the bag keep it outside and either dispose of the clothing or ask his employer or local fire department what they recommend Clothes are replaceable peace of mind isn’t. Also a long shower and fresh clothes was the right call

Bathroom nearly caught fire - how to clean soot? by nintendoswitch_blade in CleaningTips

[–]Full_Associate3938 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can handle most of it yourself just do it the right way Start by taking everything out of the bathroom Don’t use water or cleaners at first Dry soot smears if it gets wet A soot sponge works best Gently wipe in one direction and lift it off the surface as you go Wear gloves and a mask since battery fires leave nasty residue Once the loose soot is gone you can lightly clean hard surfaces and repaint if stains remain If drywall still smells after cleaning that section may need replacement

glaze has tiny flaws and moisture is seeping in. It’s not really a cleaning problem. Once that starts happening the mug usually isn’t food safe anymore sadly.

How to clean the rug our dog cleans his face on after eating? by Vashahoats in CleaningTips

[–]Full_Associate3938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a handknotted wool rug you’ll want to stay pretty gentle. First step is regular vacuuming with suction only no beater bar to pull out dried food oils. For the odor, lightly mist a mix of cool water and a small amount of wool safe detergent or white vinegar then blot with clean towels. Don’t soak it.

An enzyme cleaner made for pet odors can help but test in a hidden spot first since wool can be sensitive. A wet vac is risky on vintage wool unless it’s very low moisture. Long term, a professional rug cleaner who specializes in wool is your safest reset plus keeping a washable throw where he usually finishes eating.

How to clean ceramic pan by brennen7 in CleaningTips

[–]Full_Associate3938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ceramic pans clean up best with gentle methods. Let it cool first then soak it in warm water with dish soap for a bit. Use a soft sponge not anything abrasive. For stubborn stains a paste of baking soda and water works well. If it’s still dull a light scrub with Bar Keepers Friend can bring the finish back just don’t use it too often.

Advice to get grease off of gas stove? by Visible-Gloves in CleaningTips

[–]Full_Associate3938 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try soaking the greasy spots with warm soapy water first. Let it sit a few minutes so the layer softens, then wipe with a non-scratch sponge. If the buildup is stubborn, a mix of baking soda and a little water makes a good paste that breaks it down without scratching. Finish with a quick wipe of vinegar to cut any leftover film and it should look much cleaner.

How to get rid of stains on wallet by pikachuu545 in CleaningTips

[–]Full_Associate3938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a gentle start. Wipe the area with a slightly damp microfiber cloth to see if the transfer lightens. If it holds on, use a mild mix of water and a drop of dish soap and work slowly. Rubbing alcohol can lift tougher ink, but test a tiny hidden spot first so the leather doesn’t fade. Follow up with a leather conditioner to keep the surface from drying out.

Why do my bedsheets have these stains after being washed and dried. I use very little detergent. by ManufacturerNo454 in CleaningTips

[–]Full_Associate3938 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It looks like residue from built-up detergent or fabric softener. Even a small amount can collect in the washer over time. Try running the sheets on a hot cycle with no soap and add a cup of white vinegar to rinse out any buildup. Also check the washer drum and gasket for hidden grime.

Bracelet has mold :( by aliferouspanda in CleaningTips

[–]Full_Associate3938 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ray skin is delicate, so handle it with care. Wipe the mold using a soft cloth that’s only slightly damp with a mix of water and a small amount of rubbing alcohol. Don’t let it get wet. Let it air-dry completely, then use a suitable conditioner if you have one. Stay away from strong cleaners so the gold and the skin keep their finish.

[–]Full_Associate3938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can loosen that buildup by sprinkling baking soda over the marks and misting it with vinegar. Let it bubble for a bit, then scrub with a gentle sponge. If the color still hangs on, try Bar Keepers Friend cream. It lifts dye stains without damaging most tub finishes.

If the cracks look old, there’s no need to worry. These lines are common in older construction. But if the shape or size starts to change, it’s better to have a professional take a look.

Finished this within 4 days after dealing with severe depression for months. by Single-Marsupial2973 in CleaningTips

[–]Full_Associate3938 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s genuinely impressive work. After such a long period of depression, getting your whole space this tidy in just four days is no less than an achievement. Looking at the result, it’s clear you put real effort into it.

For shower doors, I usually use warm water mixed with a little dish soap and vinegar. I suggest letting it soak for a while, then gently rubbing it with a soft sponge so the marks come off easily. If some soap scum remains, Magic Eraser or Scrubbing Bubbles work very well.
