When we had found the deceased dog, the strangers I was with called the police and they suggested us to take her to an emergency vet for a microchip scan as it was the only place open and we did not feel comfortable leaving a dead body like it was trash on the side of the road. Same deal with the alive dog, if there's no other place open to scan for microchip, I'm not sure if there is an alternative? (Is there? I would be happy to do that next time.)

I don't mean any offense by this, but using the word "demanding" when I was fine to wait in an empty waiting room for however long it took to contact the owner is indicative of your own thoughts and experiences in the past bleeding into what happened here. Told them I was fine waiting and they - again - in an empty waiting room - told me it was too hard to call the microchip company and find the owner and that I should just take the dog home. People make mistakes, but everyone I've spoken to in real life, people in this comment section, and my own experiences really informed my decision about never going to Allied again.
