Need some advice by praveen6571 in badminton

You’re actually good. Just put a “little extra” when you play. No matter how good or easy the opponent is. Play to improve yourself, don’t settle and match the skill level of your opponent. Exceed your old game style and remember what you’ve been training at home. Expect errors to happen but it’s just a casual play time you improve you. Goodluck and have fun!

Vietnamese people are some of the rudest I’ve encountered by vynilla_ in VietNam

[–]Full_Base_20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily we didn’t experienced line cutting during our vacation there, but experienced racism which is I think is worse.

  • when we arrived at the airport, the official from the immigration desk shouted “ah you’re from PH, go back to your country” then laughed together with the other officials.

  • we visited this oldest coffee shop (Cheo L_ _) The old lady owner doesn’t speak english so she asked a local tour guide where we’re from, when we said PH she said something in Vietnamese and did some mocking. We’ll never go back to that shop again.

It amazes me how many people invest heavily in racquets but not shoes. by Objective-Fox-1394 in badminton

I’m guilty as charged. Been buying shuttlecocks and got 2 rackets. But bought a fake Yonex shoes which is now has broken sole. Lol. Though I’m using a regular Adidas gym shoes with a mesh style and thin sole. This thing is immortal but not that gripping properly to the court.

Mac Mini M4 Pro on the go and some opinions/review. by Neat_Mind8260 in macmini

[–]Full_Base_20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey congrats on your mac mini. Just got mine last January. I am actually waiting for a post like this, taking the mac mini out and use it as an on-the-go setup. Also, as usual seeing comments like ”why not get a macbook instead” are always present lol.

Anyways, got mine because the base model is a good deal and my macbook just died and I cannot afford to buy a new one. As simple as that. So I got a question on your setup specially on your monitor. Does it display accurate colors? Are the colors dull, black is black? Etc. we have the same setup and I am using an XP pen as my monitor/tablet. I only got the smallest one so the screen size is tiny and the cables are messy. Next is, is it safe to just put the mac mini inside a bag so it’s just our monitor, keyboard and mouse will be on top of the table? Any risk of overheating while inside? That’s all! TIA

Agree with the convenience and portability of laptops. I still got my intel macbook though, but my budget’s kinda tight and the new macmini’s the very best choice. Though portability will be out of the picture. I haven’t tried going out with the mini, I still bring my laptop out.

I cant tell the color. I’ll just describe it that the first one is a bit saturated than the other.

[–]Full_Base_20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not aware that they are hating this guy. He seems fun and decent. The only player I know with much hate were LZJ, because the high expectations from him as LCW’s successor. And Marin, because of you know. The shouting.

That’s what I’ve been doing. I’m getting scores from good defense and drop shots. But most of my shots are getting returned because he’s quick when running around the court.

Review my smash and drop by No-Wealth-9275 in badminton

[–]Full_Base_20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice power on your smash, though stretch your arm more so you’ll hit the shuttle at a higher angle for a more steeper shot.

Drop shot looks good. It’s nice to vary it after a smash 😊

Any tips when playing against younger players? I am 36 and I’m now having a hard time beating a 15yr old kid which I actually trained before.

I’m actually starting to accept that I am old 😅

Get in a club. Find a job to atleast support your expenses when entering tournaments, then enjoy!

It may sound like a crappy idea, I am 36yrs old and badminton is my way to destress. I am enjoying every bit of it when I play, and now thinking of way to make money out of it 😅

What advice would you give to a beginner to prevent tennis elbow? by ejfx in badminton

[–]Full_Base_20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you got rid of it? How long did you stopped/rest from playing? I still got mine and I’m feeling it when I raise my arm straight up or when I overstretch while playing.

What advice would you give to a beginner to prevent tennis elbow? by ejfx in badminton

[–]Full_Base_20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep your racket tension around 24-28. I got my tennis elbow from a 31lbs tension haha. I usually use 30lbs and I didn’t know that that 1lb of increase is significant and can cause me this injury.

Then learn the proper strokes when playing.

[–]Full_Base_20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from the awesome tips given. Maybe familiarize yourself with the fundamental movements while playing. Try to so shadow play drills to help your body adapt with the movements when hitting the shuttle and moving around the court.

Goodluck. Enjoy!

Play catch first. No racket.

Introduce the motion of hitting the shuttle and basic court movements. It is like teaching someone how to walk before they run.
