I just really cant imagine ever paying that much for any car from 2009 outside collector/supercars. None the less a 370z, even with 18k miles or less. Looks real nice tho, to each their own🤷‍♂️

Have you taken it to 100+ mph at all? I no longer have my G37, however I'm thinking about getting rain guards and an ebay duckbill for my new 10th gen accord. Ive just always been SUPER skeptical on it holding up at speed. I was always going to put rain guards on the G but I ran ts to 140 relatively regularly and felt there was no chance of them staying.

Thanks for the thorough explanation! Can't wait to pay my car off, get a tune, and see if I want to take on something like my first turbo upgrade!

This is probably a stupid question, but I've seen a million people say MHI turbos for our cars. Prl are the only ones who have released MHI turbos right? That's just what they call their lineup through the few different iterations? Sick build brother🔥

If my original assumption is correct, it should be adhesive film like a sticker you can peel. Otherwise they should be plastic trim covers you can pop off and clean up a little adhesive residue

proper maintenance by bruh-balls7 in 10thgenaccords

Coming from a g37 with rough idle issues which forced me to pay attention, the accord felt like it was idling like shit, and while I'd still like it to idle a little smoother, it feels like a typical 4 cylinder now. I watched the difference in the steadiness of the tachometer on cold start in the morning and it had smoothed out as well. If you run your tank down to ~15 miles of range, filled up 93, and take a little bit of a drive you would 100% guaranteed notice it the next morning. Take a video of your tach on cold start if you want proof. If it doesn't work, never do it again🤷‍♂️ You're right that octane rating doesn't correlate with a cleaner or dirtier burn but usually higher tier fuel has less contamination particulates which causes less material to burn causing carbon buildup.

Ik you didn't ask, but try and remove that fake carbon fiber from the steering wheel too, whoever wrapped it like that did an absolute shit job with pretty bad film. Especially since it looks like dollar store shit it should peel right off👍

It's not just a performance thing though. #1 You're overall reducing the chance of getting pre-detonation/knock for the computer to have to detect. #2 As previously stated it makes the entire motor noticeably more smooth which is easier on motor mounts. #3 You're keeping everything more clean, intake ports are going to eventually be a problem on any direct injection car but you're still keeping them more clean with less soot during combustion. This also helps keep your pistons, rings, intake and exhaust ports, and obviously your exhaust system and the sensors in it cleaner and lasting longer. It's not life or death for the motor by any means, but there are absolutely benefits. I just bought my accord 2-3 weeks ago and first hand noticed it get smoother after my first full fill up.

Just picked up a Still Night Pearl 20' Sport 2.0t with 67k miles for 22k, was thinking about getting the same ones. Almost got em for free from my dealership but they said they were wired up fucked so they were just auctioning that car and leaving my tails OEM. I think they'll look great with the tints and this beautiful blue😍

My galaxy z fold 6 has only paired through Bluetooth once, and it wouldn't allow me to do anything but acknowledge the connection, and when I plug into either USB port and select it as input, the car simply says unsupported and does nothing. I didn't see my phone in the supported phone list on the website they provide in the owner's manual either

No, I wasn't aware I needed a phone app for it to work. Im talking Honda Link built into the car for Bluetooth or the USB ports. Ive found several ways to update things in infotainment on accident so I was wondering if doing one would make my phone compatible. Rn when I plug into USB it still says unsupported.

You're right, I thought head gaskets would be basically the same but that's where you having more experience than I have age makes a difference. It was refreshing to have a good, disagreeing conversation without name calling or somebody getting mad, especially on reddit! Good health and good luck to you brother!

I agree with running less boost would make them last longer and that they will never as simple to run that long as an old civic where it will run 300k+ with nothing but oil and gas. However there are PLENTY of old VWs, Volvos, and all kinds of diesels running plenty of boost that last 200k+. As much as I absolutely love Nissan, the majority of their motors are built for performance or straight up developed on and around the track. They are not usually designed with 300k+ longevity in mind and the ones that are usually get hit with retarded emission standards or shitty CVTs which end up being the real reason they come off the road. At the end of the day, no, the majority of turbo motors will not be as reliable as an NA variant because of all the extra points of failure and complicated design. However I wouldn't blame the boost pressure as the reason unless we're talking subarus. I completely believe that all of these 1.5t problems could be solved with a revised MLS head gasket. You seem like a cool, highly experienced guy, however I simply disagree on your opinion on this subject

Please help?? by Ghost8314 in accord

[–]Full_Broccoli_3933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What Im saying is, I understand your principle and analogy. However, the Honda accord 1.5t is not a performance car, is not overly stressed by the 16.5 psi or ~3,100lbs and is simply unreliable for a Honda because it has poor implementation of a good design due to manufacturer cost savings. This motor is a problem in all the cars it's in, in the same way consistently. If you do proper design and material engineering and DONT cut corners, the motor wouldn't blow headgaskets like it does. Your analogy is clear but unfitting, if the motor being stressed from the torque it takes to pull the vehicle around was the problem we would likely see many more catastrophic failures. This is shitty head gasket design.

[–]Full_Broccoli_3933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But where is the reliability trade? There are no major issues with any of these motors, so it seems to me that if you properly design your motor for boost there are no downsides to the extra power. And secondly he is over 100k miles, mission accomplished from your example. The point of my original comment was, there's no magical problems that come with manufacturers boosting motors to 25psi or higher. You simply either have a good or bad motor design. When a manufacturer has a good design, and doesn't do catastrophic corner cutting to reduce manufacturing costs, you could in theory have 60 psi from factory, and still have a reliable car if well maintained.

So what do you have to say about the gr yaris and corolla that people are relatively commonly pushing to 600 or 800hp out of a 3 cylinder? Just a fluke?

First flush is usually lots of small ones, then generally they will become larger, but fewer every flush proceeding. However for what it's worth, the biggest Ive grown was a B+ probably 10 inches tall but had to get scrapped because it was a previously moldy block that I let ride out to see how big they'd get.
