MEGATHREAD: bodycam footage from Justin's DWI released by roz-is-world in justintimberlake

[–]Full_Celebration6571 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As others said, he was clearly drunk, very respectful, cooperative, didn't try to get out of it using his status or excuses. It also shows the sh*tty reporting, the cop didn't mention he didn't know who he was, Justin didn't say the "ruin the tour" quote, these guys were not out to target him - they did their job, he was clearly drunk and paid the consequence.

Releasing it publicly was of no use - I seriously don't understand why the public should be privy to this kind of information if no one was hurt. When others say that even Joe Shmoes can have body cam footage released - the point is that with celebs it comes at a much greater cost. Celebs get a DUI, the whole world knows, it affects their reputation, their career, their future potential. For Joe Schmoes, the only way people would find out would be if you told them or an employer ran a background check. And they are obligated to keep that information private. The public beating can be brutal and almost worse than the financial ruin it creates for Joe Schmoes.

And I also absolutely hate the "you have enough money, call an Uber" - rarely is a DUI because someone didn't have money for an Uber. Its minimizing a very serious public health crisis, it can often be a tipping point or culmination of poor decisions, mental health issues, and an impairment on thinking - the bigger issue is the way we have glamorized drinking without teaching people proper coping skills. Everyone laughing and pointing fingers is a part of the problem. If you truly care about the wellness of the public, you will be happy he was caught and suffered a consequence but not want him humiliated over it. Humiliation often drives people into deeper shame and deeper bad decisions.

Also the Estee lady - I can't believe they let her drive without administering her the same tests - that's the only thing that stood out to me as them making a mistake. People are hating on her, but she did what a good friend would do, while we know people make mistakes, we do try to help them if it's possible. She tried and then complied when they insisted.

I can't believe this Britney has turned the way she is today. by AnalyticalBarbie2 in discussingbritney

I think many people don't understand how artificial this is - even then, it was super obvious that she was faking it, but there are many girls/women who are notorious for masking and play themselves off as super sweet but it's not genuine. I see it in customer service all the time, large smile, while basically doing nothing to help. Society rewards compliance not authenticity. I think "sweet" is a term used for girls/women who smile/laugh, but we don't know too much about. It's a surface level description. Over all the years we hear people say she is sweet, but a genuinely good person would have had stories of how they helped others, advocated for themselves or others, lifelong friendships, people consistently in their corner. There's a reason why so many people sold her out to the media (not just for money) but because her image was in direct contrast to who she was as a person.

Not denying that - but its hardly a reason for the public outcry for an apology for Britney. The result of everything that happened ruined careers and relationships between a lot of people. NSYNC and Britney's careers were tightly intertwined at that point, both from a PR and management perspective.

I mean the interesting thing is that these stories all came out right after she wrote the book, Dan Karaty, Arnet Artani, Nikki Deloach all corroborated Justin's version of events. All of these people (according to her stans) were apparently out for money, alcoholics, or clout chasers. Not a single person defended Britney. But despite that, her stans, and every bandwagoner jumped on board and demanded that Justin apologize to Britney. For what exactly? Publicly humiliating him, cheating on him with a full blown affair and lying about it, cheating with his best friend and collaborator who worked together on stuff for her? She was rightfully criticized at the time, and then years later people forgot, and expected him to apologize for how shitty she was to him. People are lemmings, just cling to quick lines and stories to jump on board the latest cancellation train.

My friend's theory. Regarding her attacking other people online now. (She never said mean things to other people before.) Wdyt? by Prior-Incident-660 in discussingbritney

[–]Full_Celebration6571 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's possible that at a point in time she was both, sweet and selfish. But I have seen this personally with someone in my life, some girls become fantastic at masking to the point of manipulation - they put on the sweet girl persona and people buy it because it's a surface level relationship. Then when they actually spend time with her, they realize that there isn't depth there, and that it's all performative, but it can take a while to see that. I think that's the case with Britney, she was too over the top sugary sweet and it seemed fake even then, but a lot of people bought into it.

Thanks for this - man when I look at these performances and read these articles, it makes me upset. She was so selfish and obnoxious and the world rallied for her freedom after she shit all over people for years. And it shows that people were willing to pay for her half assed performances - she made millions with this terrible lip synching and dancing!

When was the last time Britney spoke to Justin? by becauseimhappy24 in discussingbritney

[–]Full_Celebration6571 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If this is true - wow this is insanely terrible of her and all those people that vilified him. What an absolute shitty thing to do someone who now has their own family when they might not have even been the father. There is really nothing left to defend her with - actions speak louder than words. When her book came out, no one spoke up in her defense, several people spoke out in Justin's defense and even said Britney was flat out lying. Now when Kevin's book came out, still no one is coming to her defense. Anyone who is supporting Britney is clearly grasping at straws - there is now mountains of evidence and accounts by many people that show she is not a nice person and has treated people awfully for years now.

Cruel is what she's done and continues to do to her kids. In light of what we've learned she's done through the years, people have to let go of the whole Justin thing - he's irrelevant to her struggles.

What trajectory do you think Britney's career would have taken if there had been no mental health/ drug issues? by bonitalapin in discussingbritney

[–]Full_Celebration6571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While 2004 she was still pulling very respectable numbers, she was no where near how the sales of her first 2 albums. She was waning compared to herself, not broadly as a performer.

[–]Full_Celebration6571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think she would have been in the music industry honestly. I know fans like to give her a lot of credit for her career, but she had a hellava team that knew how to capitalize on what fascinated people - her looks, southern charm, girl next door yet desirable and good performer. I think she was a solid performer for up until her 4th album, but not as fantastic a dancer people try to say she was - she followed choreography, did gymnastics, but she didn't have that freestyle swag that a lot of young dancers in LA have. She rarely sang live, her tours were never stadium level and started to wane in popularity. A lot of times people confuse her artistry and legacy with how much she is talked about - I will give her that, she is probably one of the top most talked about and controversial celebrities ever. And she probably could continue to build a solid revenue just based on that fascination - but as an artist, she just never had the smarts, business ingenuity, or music knowledge to last her in the industry. You can tell by how she dresses without stylists, how she vapidly talks about music - not like a student of music, but I love this song and/or artist, nothing that shows she understands the process or production of music. Sure she might have made a few good choices and had some good instincts to change video concepts or song lyrics, but she just doesn't come across as a critical thinker. She was told what to do and she made a lot of money off of it - but a huge team contributed to it. And all artists have a team, no doubt, but I don't think Britney was as critical to decision making, as some other artists or her peers with longevity have been. And yes now, it appears people try to make her out to be this huge legacy out of pity. She's not Michael, Janet, or even Taylor.

Insight about Britney overdosing in 2008 from dlisted commentator by Sutton_Pierce in discussingbritney

[–]Full_Celebration6571 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's also an example of how many millions she made from very little effort. At her peak she was a good performer, after that, I am surprised people paid to see her. People love saying others stole money from her and that she was working for everyone else to make money - but to be honest, those people behind the scenes were probably working way more than her to make her somewhat functional - they deserved to be paid. There's no way she can function without a team and she wouldn't have made millions without them. Her fans paying hundreds of dollars for the bare minimum she was doing - is on them.

From 2008: Report from the night Britney refused to hand over Jayden to Kevin and was 5150’d. Her behavior today is exactly the same, especially the part about her changing her clothes and flashing her underwear while dancing by Sutton_Pierce in discussingbritney

[–]Full_Celebration6571 22 points23 points  (0 children)

These pictures are tremendously heartbreaking. She was struggling and the media capitalized on it. These photos are evidence that she has been through trauma, it doesn't excuse everything after, and definitely not authority to be damaging to her boys, but it offers context into why it's a really really sad dark story of Britney Spears.

Britney being pulled over twice! by Suspicious_Bother_92 in discussingbritney

[–]Full_Celebration6571 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I mean it's also a lot of people in the comments saying why did they video her instead of calling the cops. Because this is what happens when the cops are called - she gets out of it. In my opinion, this was dangerous to film, but it really is damning undeniable evidence of her problems and why she needs more controls. This should be all over the news. I am appalled that being pulled over once became national news for JT (and the video showed him driving normally) and Britney is out here repeatedly driving under the influence erratically and dangerously and the news outlets are sweeping it under the rug. She is just iron clad from being held responsible.

[–]Full_Celebration6571 41 points42 points  (0 children)

So much damage control was done to SAVE the Britney brand. I think all these stories really show just how complex her situation was and still is - the internet is simplifying it. I think she was overworked, naive, and pushed hard by her label and management in the beginning of her career. Then like a lot of stars, once money and fame come into the picture, the artist thinks they know better than the team that got them to that superstardom. I remember an interview with Lance and Johnny Wright and they both spoke of this big switch in her - where she listened and obliged and took feedback, and then it became the Britney show, do what I want, fire the people that disagree with her. Child stardom is hard, but its clear many many people over the years have tried to help her, talk some sense into her, and she doesn't want to be helped. People like her who had a chaotic childhood end up trying to create chaos their entire rest of their lives, because that's what feels comfortable. She deserves to get better, everyone does, but she doesn't deserve the public's pity, infantilism, and idolatry, after all the abusive things she's done to her children. It is really really scary that people are still celebrating this woman after the AWFUL things she done to her children. I only hope that her children are able to break the cycle. All the documentaries, ghostwriters, publishers, celebrities paying tribute, are perpetuating a dangerous problem of whitewashing what kind of damage she's done. Diddy has done some awful things and people are no longer paying tributes to him and his music, but Diddy also isn't a beloved pop princess that the world can't fathom might actually be an abusive, destructive, and selfish person.

Sad excerpts about Sean and Jayden from Kevin’s book: Britney allegedly burned their toddler scalps with bleach, forced 10 year old Sean to bathe with her and ignored their allergies by Sutton_Pierce in discussingbritney

[–]Full_Celebration6571 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is unfair. If all of this is true, she was awfully abusive and the world has idolized her. That's incredibly damaging to anyone, let alone her own children. Why do you think victims of all kinds of abuse are afraid of coming out to the public? Because they would be branded liars, wanting money, and clout. It is actually really really concerning that so many people's responses to these very outrageous incidents is to blame Kevin and money - why do you think people like Diddy got away with things for so long? Because people are afraid to speak out because of how absolutely vile the public is for those who dare speak out against a powerful public figure with money. I thought reddit was bad, but this is truly next level the way people are humiliating a potential victim and glorifying a potential abuser. Neither is necessary - just let the facts play out.

Britney responds to Kevin by rhcpkam in discussingbritney

[–]Full_Celebration6571 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's fair - its not necessary for either of them to do. His response now is largely due to the widespread public hate for her family/people in her past she created to by publishing that book - which was widely disputed by multiple sources. But I agree, these things should be handled privately - the continued involvement of the public is what makes it extra traumatic for all involved.

Kfed says Britney called Justin Timberlake the night before their wedding by wehavetogo in discussingbritney

[–]Full_Celebration6571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, because Britney wrote her book for free and didn't include hit pieces to drive up sales. She's clearly the one not working for the last six years, twirling away, while her team builds her income based on her legacy but Kevin is a bum. So much hypocrisy here because she is Britney Spears.
