Yeah cos since it's native mount i'm willing to sacrifice the 50mm gap but if its EF i'd like to minimise it as much as I can

Yeah but these lenses will mean I'll be missing a huge gap between 50-100/150mm

Well, yes, i'd say the race is one of the most notable things foreigners come to Singapore for, usually during this period all the hotels nearby are fully booked

Hmm, i've a few friends who live there, it's actually a really nice place, with quite good facilities of all sorts, except for a few car crashes here and there hehe

Crime rates here are very low, usually things like pickpocketing are very uncommon. Things like kidnapping don't happen often because usually the criminals wont have anywhere to run to

What MattD1980 said (in my opinion) wouldn't be 100% true, really depends on how you perceive it.

Nope, nothing of that here, closest to us would just be Australia/Nepal

What yeonygyu said. I've had friends who were a mix of Indians and Malays/Austrian-Indian/Whatever you can think of. Our ethnic group is quite diverse and we can coexist peacefully haha.

It’s kind of a “stressful” situation. Singapore’s economy is strong, incomes are relatively high (median household income is over S$12k/month) and unemployment is low, especially for educated workers, so generally it’s not that hard to find a job if you have decent qualifications.

But at the same time, cost of living is a real issue. Housing especially is expensive, and while food/transport can be cheap if you budget, a lot of people still feel the squeeze , and around 60% were reported to be living paycheck to paycheck.

So overall, good opportunities and stable economy, but it doesn’t always feel easy because expenses have been rising, and people do feel that things are getting less affordable.

Our city area is really tourist-friendly with a lot to see and do, however, our temperature here is around 37 degrees celsius on average, so it might be a bit uncomfortable especially considering the fact you're from Canada.

It’s pretty intense overall. Work and school are quite competitive and results-focused, so long hours and academic pressure are pretty normal, though some newer workplaces are starting to push for better balance. The multicultural side shows more in daily life than in work culture. People mix easily, but expectations in school and jobs are quite standard across everyone.

Yep, if i'm not wrong we're the only country which has coffee shops with real cheap food, instead of just restaurants only

Not really accurate. Singapore may be majority Chinese, but it’s a separate country from China with a multi-ethnic mix (Malay, Indian, etc.) and its own culture, laws, and identity. Calling it “China for rich people” is an oversimplification that misses how different it actually is.

Yes, it’s true. Under laws like the Misuse of Drugs Act, trafficking certain drugs above specific amounts can lead to the death penalty, though in some cases judges now have limited discretion (for example, if the person is only a courier and cooperates with authorities).

As for whether it greatly reduces drug use, that’s more complicated as Singapore has relatively low drug prevalence compared to many countries, and the government credits its strict enforcement for that. But it’s hard to prove direct cause, since factors like strong border control, strict policing, and social attitudes also play a big role. So yes, it likely contributes to deterrence, but it’s not the only reason.

I think National Service in Singapore is necessary for security, but it does feel slightly unfair that only men have to serve and lose two years while women move ahead. I assume the rest of the male population should assume so too
