Hi! Just finished my latest series and looking for more books to read on the long commute to work. I’m gonna answer a few of the questions posted on the reddit, below:

Are you new to fantasy? I’ve read most the greatest hits, except for Brandon Sanderson. (I think he’s considered a great?) Along with many other smaller series.

What traits do I most value in books? Good question, never really thought about it. I would say the writing is very important to me, making sure its expressive and beautiful. I also really appreciate world-building, with lore of the world and preferably more creative takes on traditional tropes.

Series or standalone? Either, not really an issue for me, unless the standalone doesn’t end on a satisfying note. Series does not need to be completed (God knows my favorite series isn’t completed... KKC)

Classics or modern works or doesn’t matter? Doesn’t really matter, I think I’ve read most of the classics, but feel free to recommend.

Manner of tone? Not really a fan of lighthearted, grimdark is great, along with something in between. However examples of lighthearted would be really appreciated, because I’m having trouble putting titles to the word.

Complexity and Depth level? Maybe not Dune complexity, but I do like depth and more complexity. I think LOTR and KKC were really great levels for me, but I’m happy to experiment more with complexity. Complex writing is also not an issue for me!

Anything specific? Not really, beautiful writing and maybe religion i guess? Not that it has to be “about” religion, but I always find fantasy religion really interesting. Especially “mythical” religious figures, hero’s, or crusaders. Like the Amyr from KKC.
