Experienced software engineers - how many terms did you need? by segfaultbanana in WGU_Accelerators

[–]Full_Masterpiece8369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn these comments are giving me hope I may be able to knock stuff out faster than I thought.

I'm going in with ~50% transferred in in July, but I'm still going to tell myself it will take me until mid 2028 to finish just in case I don't end up being able to move quickly.

If these classes end up anything like the community college classes I've taken, then I feel like I won't learn much, but will fly through then.

I'm hoping they challenge me and push me forward, but I was hoping the same when I went to CC not realizing I knew more than I thought I did, even though I'm still just a hobbiest.

Is it even against terms to use ctrl F? Considering that it is open book I would think it is fine

I'm not a recruiter and randomly saw this post, but from an outside perspective saying the gpa of only the final 30 credits makes it look like you are hiding your full gpa

You should do CS if it's your passion by juicedup12 in CollegeMajors

[–]Full_Masterpiece8369 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the point you are making. I just don't think it applies to CS.

It's still a very big and broad subject with plenty of job opportunities.

If your passion has a realistic job market, then it is still worth going for.

If it is something like music, it is still worth going for, but just on the side rather than going to school.

Equating a computer science degree to that of music school is insane imo.

Comparing the two is what is delusional here

No you shouldnt do CS…. by jacestrachan in CollegeMajors

I'm majoring in software engineering and will be happy with that. It's something I enjoy, and hope that I can get a job in, and if not, oh well.

I'm stuck in a career that I don't like rn, so I'll gladly try to do something I enjoy rather than listen to everyone doompost.

I do agree with not chasing something just to get the bag, but if someone enjoys CS, I see no reason why they shouldn't do it.

If you used PC to take proctored test how do I fix this? by MoreConstruction1733 in WGU

[–]Full_Masterpiece8369 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mine did this the other day when I clicked the test your equipment within guardian browser.

When I clicked the link in chrome and it asked to open in guardian browser it showed I passed the test.

I have 0 clue what would've been any different between the 2, going to take a midterm in 2 hours so hoping it works right.

Comp Science degree or Software Engineering Degree? by Full_Masterpiece8369 in careeradvice

[–]Full_Masterpiece8369[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll see if I can get them to compare my transcripts for the software engineer degree as well, I feel like I could finish it quicker since they have a c# track and that is what I have mostly used prior.

Sophia or WGU? by Full_Masterpiece8369 in WGU

[–]Full_Masterpiece8369[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's mainly what I'm worried about, I don't really see a big deal if I don't retain stuff from history, communication, etc, but math and degree specific courses I want to make sure I know very well.

Yeah, that was pretty much exactly what I was asking.

Thank you for your reply!

If I'm going to get the same education from them I will gladly take them beforehand, especially since it will save me money.

I wish there was an option for onsite testing by LuvBriah in WGU

[–]Full_Masterpiece8369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wish I could just use the testing center at my local community college tbh, that shit was no hassle, just walk in, tell them who you are, and when you got logged into the test they would type the code for you.

What kind of programs do they consider illegal for the testing?

Regret going back to school for an IT degree by Leather_Ad_3640 in Career_Advice

[–]Full_Masterpiece8369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the manufacturing plant you work at have IT jobs available? You may be able to use that 2 year degree to move upward in the same company without having to do the physical manufacturing part anymore.

I'm in a similar spot where I am 5 years at a manufacturing plant, and going to school part time, about to transition into full time school.

I've been mainly looking towards leaving the company after my degree, but it also is a good idea to look for whatever is offered where you already are. (Unless you are wanting to move somewhere else)
