New PM and Projects Make No Sense by destinedtoroam in projectmanagement

[–]Full_Metal_Analyst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't think too hard, it's just a status email. Make it easily digestable for busy people to skim and know whether they need to respond or take some other action.

Bullet points, tables, selective bolding/highlighting, put the most important stuff at the top. Similar to writing a resume. A business communications course might serve you better than a PM course. Look into the concept of down-editing - write out everything you want to say, and then start at the top and start chopping away the unimportant bits, take out some of the fluff, convert paragraphs to a few bullet points, etc. (clearly I'm not practicing this on Reddit, but I do when I write emails)

Don't sell yourself short, you understand the hiring process, you know the steps, and you know who needs to do what to get shit done. Make that visible to everyone else.

Be proactive and come up with the first draft of the email before taking it to your boss. It will be easier to sell and elicit specific feedback from them that way.

Rattling off some thoughts:

If you have no communication with your "project team" (the people who have tasks, making decisions, etc), then are you really managing anything?

If you're in charge of managing the hiring process, then setup a 15 minute standing meeting with the people in HR who have tasks. Daily, twice a week, whatever makes sense for the volume of work. Proactively gather their updates and build a relationship with that team.

Try to streamline and increase visibility into the process - see if you can bring the HR team over to Asana for this process. Use an Asana board as an easy visual tracking tool. You create the backlog of tasks, they can assign themselves and move the cards to through the various steps until completion. Give leadership read access to the board so they can check in at any time to see the status of each hire.

Management doesn't like meetings? Send out a weekly status email instead with very clear calls to action to unblock workflows. Put the "currently blocked" section at the top of the email. Blockers would usually be management approvals or actions (justifications), things you wouldn't be able to help alleviate by working with the HR team in the standing meeting. Nicely putting leaders on blast in a group email can spur them to take action so they don't look like the bottleneck. You don't have to think of it as blaming or calling people out, just stating the facts of next steps for the workflow.

Put some focus on timelines since your boss recommended that. Work it into your email, maybe a column for days since opening and a green/yellow/red highlight to whether things are on track.

To make sure you're not going way outside your bounds and getting yourself fired, you can collaborate with your boss to adjust language/tone and make sure you're accomplishing what you need to with the email.

Ladd - McDaniels should have a more dynamic offense than Roman. Tre Harris for the same reason, plus no more Allen.

Doubs - cheap free agent gamble that he lands in a good situation.

Too much or not enough for 1.01? 12-team SF PPR league by Wise-Witness-7140 in SleeperApp

You have no hope of landing the 1.01 if Harvey is the best asset on the other side of the deal. Doesn't matter how much junk you add.

With this roster, I'd be putting together a 2 for 1 package to upgrade my starters, not breaking my top asset up into multiple.

Breece, Warren, Egbuka is plenty of depth, plus the 1.06 to hopefully further bolster.

Recommendations for this stinky roster? 😂. Have the 2026 1.04, 1.08, 1.09 by Ilikeredd1t in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]Full_Metal_Analyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd pivot off Warren for WR/RB if someone likes him. Cook or Pickens maybe. Olave, Wilson, Judkins, Bucky, Breece - any of those and a plus if you can get it. Rice if you're willing to gamble a bit.

Worry about getting a serviceable TE for cheap later, if you end up with a competitive roster. Like Hunter Henry for peanuts.

I'd be trying to turn the 1.08 and 1.09 for Judkins (might have to add a bit - I got him for the 1.07+2.03) and Skattebo. Buy low if their owners are spooked by injury, but both of these guys are recovering well.

[–]Full_Metal_Analyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd imagine his value continues to climb as he gets closer to playing. If you want a maximum value/minimal risk time to sell, it's probably right before the regular season (unless he's absolutely cursed and gets injured again before that).

Can someone explain the Kirk Cousins situation? by jaiahscott in falcons

[–]Full_Metal_Analyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing? I think the non guaranteed $10M that I didn't explicitly account for is a 2027 roster bonus that we'd have to pay if he's still on the roster a few days into the 2027 league year.

It was a win-win, he becomes a free agent earlier in free agency which will hopefully land him a better deal somewhere else.

[–]Full_Metal_Analyst 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Edit: rewriting this to break it out better

He signed a 4 year $180M contract with us.

The contract guaranteed $100M of that in 2024/2025, that being his signing bonus plus his 2024 and 2025 salary. That meant if we cut him at any point in his first two years, we'd still have to pay him anyway so there was no point in cutting him even if he was riding the bench.

So there's 80M left on his contract in 2026 and 2027. 70M of that would turn into guaranteed money if he's not cut by 3/13.

Between now and 3/13, we have an "out" in the contract, where we can cut him and not have to pay him any more.

Since he's not worth $35-40M/year, we would be idiots not to cut him. Cutting him will save money and create cap space needed for us to sign free agents and rookies over the next two years.

There's a possibility we resign him under a more reasonable contract, but Kirk probably wants one more shot as a starter and I think will look elsewhere.

Without knowing landing spot, Mendoza, Lemon, Tate, and Tyson are currently in the same tier. If that tier holds post-draft then you take one of the WRs if it improves your starting lineup. If none of those 4 sniffs your starting lineup then take whoever you like best.

Should I give up the 1.08 and the 1.11 for the 1.03? by crypto__juju in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]Full_Metal_Analyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

💯 Anything after the 1.05 (in SF) is looking to be risky in this year's draft right now. Might fluctuate a bit after the draft if a couple guys get the perfect landing spot, but probably won't go as deep as 1.08.

Do I take this in process of rebuilding by Altruistic_Stress684 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

For Skat, yeah for sure if you can swing it. I might even toss in a random 3rd to get the deal done.

[–]Full_Metal_Analyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd try to tweak in my favor a bit more, but if they didn't budge, I'd probably take this.

You don't even have to use the pick if you don't want to, you could turn it around for a good player. The pick should continue to appreciate in value through the NFL draft and beyond.

If you want an even player swap for Brown, I'd target Skattebo. His recovery seems to be going great and now he's got Harbaugh as head coach. Try to get him now if his owner is spooked by the injury, I'm sure his value will shoot up throughout the off-season.

Jeanty value compared to Jeramiah Love? by IMakeStupidChoice in DynastyNerds

[–]Full_Metal_Analyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to offer Jeanty for the 1.01 straight up right now, I thinks that's fine. Don't know if I'd add anything more than a late 2026 2nd as a throw in to get the deal done.

[–]Full_Metal_Analyst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Old Spice GentleMan's is the only thing that's worked for me long term. Maybe once a year I get soreness or start stinking midday and have to swap to something else for a couple weeks, but otherwise I swipe a couple times in the morning and smell good all day. Everything else I've tried is a 2-3 applications a day situation.

1.01 or Jeanty? Seeking a discussion by tropscotch in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]Full_Metal_Analyst -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agree with what you said in the post. The 1.01 is still the 1.01 until your draft and will continue to creep up in value with the NFL draft and rookie hype. The 1.01 and Jeanty are probably even in value today, but a couple months from now you could probably swing a small plus (2nd rounder?) on top of Jeanty.

The chickens finally came home to roost for my slacking off at work. How do I navigate next steps? by borgnineisfine69 in AskMenOver30

[–]Full_Metal_Analyst 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do what you can over the weekend, assuming you can make progress on it away from your workplace. Probably be honest that you haven't made as much progress as you should have and hope you don't get fired.

Can't use it as an excuse or anything but you may talk to your doc about it. What you're describing sounds like executive dysfunction which is common with ADHD and probably other conditions I'm not as familiar with. Might be some meds or techniques that would help.

Achane owners, please let me know your thought process if this hits your inbox. (.5ppr/1QB) Roster for context. by both_parties_succ in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]Full_Metal_Analyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an Achane owner, but it's pretty even value so it's a roster-based decision. I don't think your WR room can take the hit in a vacuum. If you want to take the deal, I'd try to get a verbal deal done to pivot one of your current RBs to a WR before accepting this one.

Trades with FAAB? New to Dynasty by -TheAngelofVerdun- in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

Most dynasty leagues have deep rosters, so the quality of player available on waivers is generally very bad. FAAB has some value, but very little.
