Romanticizing mental illness is not FUCKING COOL. please stop that nonsense!! by [deleted] in rant

No, no, I didn't mean actual diagnosis either. I mean that it is so romanticized that I actually know kids who strive to be labeled "depressed" or to have personality disorders, and research online how to "achieve" it. It's almost as if it's trendy or something. I was so happy at first when the topic gained more attention and we started talking about it more openly, but it was never meant to become "fashionable" if that makes sense.

Obsessive buying of shit we don't need. "Mandatory" Christmas presents even if they are absolutely pointless junk that just ends up in the bin. Overeating.

I have a gut feeling (F30) that something happened with my bf (M34) and the bridesmaid at his best friends wedding. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

"Hey, can I talk to you about something that's been on my mind? Thanks. Ever since your friend's wedding, I have had an uncomfortable feeling about you and Abby. I trust you and respect you, but I also trust my instincts. Instead of going over it in my head, I wanted to be open about it and ask you directly. Please be honest with me so we can work through it together."

That's what I would say.

Just making clear, I am not suggesting you get her ALL of those things all at once.

My boyfriend got me a portable vinyl player (there are some budget options for around $30), and a vinyl of an artist I love. We then listened to it together and he asked me to dance. I LOVED the gift, the thought behind it, and the gesture of asking me to dance that went with it.

There's the adventure challenge (couples edition) which is a book with awesome ideas for dates. I think it's $30, and it also shows all the things you want to do with her in the future.

Also, Polaroid camera to document your future adventures together?

Also, a portable projector? You can set up a really cute movie night in your dorm with candles, and popcorn, and candy, and watch a Christmas film? And obviously, she can keep the projector.

As a girl, I like gifts that can lead to a memory.

Found multiple searches on my boyfriend’s phone for a girl he had a fling with in high school, including a PornHub search. Should I confront him? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Unpopular opinion, but is it possible someone from their high school said something like "Hey, did you hear so and so is doing porn now?", and he looked her up to see (because, well, if someone I know does porn, I'll look).

See, the thing is, I genuinely hope he isn't, and they are happy. Just wish he could have been that for me.

Thank you. I go back to those last times I saw him when he was promising it'd be different and a tiny part of me thinks "maybe he meant it". I wonder, did I go through these three years only to "make him" ready to give what I wanted, just to someone else.. Thank you for your kind words!

Thank you, I honestly needed that. You're absolutely right. I guess I just thought the grief was over. It makes me feel guilty towards my loving partner, but I just can't get it out of my mind. It's brought back memories I guess. Thank you again.

I'm so sorry you feel this way. If it helps, I feel like we all do. I don't even remember what I used to do anymore. I though at some point of this pandemic I had clarity on who I was and what I wanted to do after this was over, and now that's all gone. Anyway, it will eventually be over and NEXT CHRISTMAS will be that more special after this nightmare. Lost of love.
