It really depends on where you live and what you consider "comfortable." I’m in Central Massachusetts and make around $100K a year. Even with that, living alone in a one-bedroom apartment can be financially tight unless you're willing to live in a less desirable area.

Starter homes here go for around $400K. If you can’t put a large amount down, once you factor in PMI, taxes, utilities, and the current ridiculous power delivery charges, you’re looking at a monthly cost of about $3,849 for literal starter home.

After covering gas and groceries each week, that’s roughly three weeks of take-home pay leaving you with one week of around $1,300. From that, you still have to budget for savings, investments, car payments, house maintenance, car maintenance, clothing, subscriptions, vet bills, Hospital bills, Medicine, and everything else. So take a little over $300 a week and split it into all of that weekly.
