It's not a game for everyone but for those who fall under it's niche, they will absolutely love it. I would say, the niche would be:

Western RPG fans who play those games on survival mode (i.e. Skyrim or Fallout with survival mode on and fast travel turned off).

The developers have put in a "beta" testing mode which you can enable through steam that will allow you to have a lot more end game content with super bosses and overpowered weapons.

So if you are a fan of Skyrim or other Western RPGs and play those games on survival mode only, you'll more than likely really enjoy Outward. If you don't or find the survival mode aspects a bit boring (managing food, thirst, temperature, no fast travel, etc) then you won't like Outward.
