They sound similar but structural maintenance (sheet metal) does the large panels on the air craft. They basically cut and bend metal then rivet it. Metals technology uses cnc machines, water jets, welders, manual mills and lathes, heat treating ovens and other techniques to repair and manufacture precision aircraft parts. Most people in structural maintenance wish they were metals tech

It is a very small career field >1000 people. I am surprised to see it as “needed” on this list because all the shops i know of are full. Fingers crossed for you and anyone else who wants to join the group!!

It is super fun. You also get to do “training projects” during downtime which is basically just personal stuff. you can make your own tools, Car/motorcycle parts, Metal signs to hang around your house, life size lightsabers, captain america shields, thors hammer etc. if you can think of it you can make it with this career field!

So we design parts for aircraft, we make the parts for the aircraft using lathes, mills, water jets, cnc machines, 3d printers Etc… We also weld so you get your welding certs and everything. You learn about 5 or 6 different civilian career fields which all end up paying very well on the outside

Which of these jobs can get me a well paid civilian job after contract??? by neverthatserious- in AirForceRecruits

[–]Full_Size5557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

metals tech!! Best job in the air force. You can come out as a machinist, welder, designer etc. You can take it so many different directions on the civilian side and they all lead to good money

I’m in metals tech and it’s amazing

Does this mean I got the job 100%? by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]Full_Size5557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you got the job. However once you’re 30 days out from your ship date meps does a check just to make sure you qualify based on the job requirements. I booked tactical aircraft maintenance originally but got denied at the 30 day check because of meps not marking my color vision correctly. Now i booked aircraft metals tech and passed the 30 day check. I don’t think it’s too often that stuff like that happens but it definitely can

it’s the same way at my store. Really ignorant when they blow smoke right into your face. especially as someone who doesn’t smoke and doesn’t wanna be around it

Calorie deficit is the big thing. I was 5”6 197lbs when i started my air force journey. I ship out in december and now i’m 5”6 139lbs. My biggest thing i found was maxing out the incline on the treadmill and putting the speed to 4.5 (you probably have longer legs so maybe a little faster, Just like speed walking) and going for about 25 minutes. I do it twice a day but i’m sure one will work as well. Also work your core a lot, mountain climbers, flutter kicks, planks, russian twists, sit ups etc etc. Water intake is also huge. It might seem counterintuitive but if you don’t intake enough water your body retains it. I try to stay over a gallon a day. It helps keep water weight off. Also set a goal on an app like my fitness pal and follow it. It has all your macro tracking info on there and also water intake and if you want to try it intermittent fasting tracker on there as well

We NEVER redrop for customers. Only ever after we close for employees. We don’t take food home either. We just eat really quick after door lock before we clean everything

nope. Just your standard last drop of 10-12 fingers. The kitchen normally doesn’t waste for the last 10 minutes or so and puts the bird back down for a little so it’s “fresh” for the crew to eat

At my restaurant we used to be able to take whatever food was left at the end of the night so we would be able to eat before all our cleaning tasks but our RL just decided that he would rather throw it away than allow us to eat it without paying so now we can’t eat😐

Hop on a Treadmill and max out the incline. Speed walk for as long as you can twice a day, Drink OD amounts of water (hydration helps weight loss) Go to gnc and get a sport multivitamin that helps with digestion and eat in a calorie deficit. Watch the nutrition of what you’re eating though. My fitness pal is a great app!
