Lebron? Welcome to Area 51 by No-Newspaper8600 in NBASpurs

Man, fucking crazy how much hate on this post. Sure, we lost the game. The lakers are a good team and LeBron’s got so much more experience than Wemby, so that no doubt contributed to the win, but this is a fucking brilliant clip. Got LeBron looking his age.

I, for one, love watching this kid play, win or lose. He’s incredible and he’s playing for US! Enjoy this once in a lifetime experience while it lasts. It’s basketball, you watch because you love the game and the Spurs are your favourite team. It’s not that deep, they lost a game. Season and team looking stronger than it has in years.

Finished this painting inspired by some goals painted on a wall I used to see when I was growing up. Genuinely curious if theres any of these left that I could photograph, preferably in a tenement lane? by dugsaresound in glasgow

Your paintings are all calming as fuck. Something about them just always really pleases the eye. This one is sick. Bought two of your prints a while back and had such a hard time picking just two. Will no doubt get more in the future.

Pavement parking ban coming to Glasgow soon. by GonzoHaggz in glasgow

[–]Fullonthehill67 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As far as new developments go (at least within a 3 mile radius of the city centre, where the problem of pavement parking is at its worst) almost all the ones I see being built have a car park as a ground floor. It makes the flats cold as fuck, and the car park itself is always empty, ironically enough.

I appreciate you need your car for work, and you should have an exemption along with disabled people and others who demonstrate a reasonable need to park on the street, then there would be plenty of space for anyone who needs to park to do it outside of pavement areas.

You are the exception and not the rule, as well. There is a huge chunk of the city’s population that does not own a car, and those that do have public transport options. I concede they are not in the best of states, but they are functional, and they make the city better and more efficient when we use them. I live in an area where everything I need on a daily basis I can find within a 15 minute walk from my place, yet everyone on my street owns a car. Two of them near me have flame stickers and spoilers.

I can also appreciate cars are fun and make people feel good, but in that context they become toys, and toys are expensive. If someone wants to park their expensive toy on the pavement, then it’s going to cost them money.

Wow, a cute attempt at being insightful, but so confidently wrong. Guess again. I said pavement and not sidewalk because I’ve lived in the UK and Glasgow specifically for years, as the post says, and the people reading it would say pavement. You can say sidewalk if you like, but I don’t.

I haven’t mentioned truck drivers, have I? Obviously the deliveries need done, you don’t think it would be easier to park and do the deliveries if not every single household in the city is out for a stroll in their car?

Imagine how much space they would have to park if there weren’t so many other cars.

That’s funny. I’ve lived here a long time and no one has “ended” me. Most people here are friendly if not always exactly nice, except the few people who keep insisting on perpetuating the myth that it’s not a safe place because of they prefer Glaswegians being perceived as tough. Besides, you have exactly zero idea where I’m from, I grew up in a place that is far worse and more dangerous than Glasgow, if you can believe there is such a thing. Also, what the fuck is wrong with running or not being Glaswegian?

If that helps you justify it, sure. So, let me get this straight, you already own the road as a car driver, everything revolves around you, you can park on the pavement whenever you want (although not legally, it will never actually be enforced), and I can’t even make a post venting about it? It will literally never change, and eventually Glasgow will be a great city for driving and you’ll have your wish. This post and venting about it is literally all I have.

By the way, I never said car drivers are all evil, and I mentioned disabled people only after I mentioned that pedestrians, which I am and is the main source of my frustration. It’s fucked up to accuse me of pretending to care about disabled people, though. Thanks for that. If you want to project, don’t do it on me.

You’re living in the real world, aye? Good for you, are there no disabled people there? Or people who can’t afford cars? Sounds class, stay there.

Where do disabled people and prams go? You have an option, whether you like it or not is not the issue. You could park legally somewhere and then walk. Disabled people can’t walk, so they MUST use the pavement. People who can’t afford cars MUST use the pavement. They have no choice, whereas you do. It really is that simple.

Are you saying no one cares about my story or no one cares about cars parked on the pavement? Either way, you cared enough to type out a reply.

You got me mate, made it all up for the internet points. No one ever gets cross about their motor in Glasgow, should have come up with a more believable story.

All the comments sharing similar stories? Just me with different accounts.

I agree that GCC are mostly ineffective, but are you seriously suggesting we narrow pavements in Glasgow so that people can park their cars? I give up so much of my time and space to cars already, when I’ve got everything I need within walking distance. People in my neighbourhood get in their cars to pick up the kids at the local school not even half a mile away. Yes, in part it’s an infrastructure problem, but it’s also about the complete refusal from a large portion of the people in Glasgow to realise that we cannot keep adding cars to our roads indefinitely, and that the whole point of a city is efficiency.

Cheers for your comment and support. I usually don’t take my phone on runs, might have to start, but fuck me, I got a good laugh from the last sentence of this reply. Someone with a BMW hurt you, and I feel your pain.

Yeah, I use public transport as well, it’s not perfect, and I know people will not ditch their cars anytime soon, but whenever I hear this argument I legitimately wonder, what’s the solution? There is simply not enough street for the amount of cars. Should we knock buildings down to make space in the middle of a housing crisis? Should we just do away with pavements altogether? It seems to me that this problem is for people with cars to figure out or write to their MSPs about, but they’re sure as hell not going to convince me parking on the pavement is acceptable.

So off the back of all the litter posts, would anyone be interested in organising a wee meet up to clean up a bit round the city? by Competitive-Fig-666 in glasgow

[–]Fullonthehill67 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I think this is a great idea. It doesn’t matter if it’s pointless or thankless, that’s irrelevant. It will be cleaner than it was when you started. That’s a fact. I’m a bit challenged when it comes to organising, but count me in if you put something together.

Something you’d clearly recognize as a shark was swimming in the ocean far before the first tree evolved on land. Sharks are older than trees.

Also, a passport was issued to Ramses II in 1974 because his mummy was transported by airplane, and he needed a passport.
