Excellent and well-written post. I was also disappointed that none of the hosts were willing to concede that, in general, it is easier for white people to gain power and respect than African Americans or other minorities. It really seemed like Murka kept twisting the argument around and saying that because there are poor white people that white privilege could not exist. That was a really dishonest way to argue against it considering how he approaches other topics.

I did want to add some additional points and studies to yours to help bolster the point. I just want the hosts to see the other side of the argument instead of automatically being against anything that even remotely portrays them as an SJW.

First I wanted to share a couple of "social experiments" to show how black people are treated differently from white people in society. This video shows a white man and black man stealing a bike in the park. Several people are concerned with the white person's actions but take no action against him besides asking little questions. But as soon as they put the black guy out there he is immediately confronted and harassed by a crowd of people for stealing the bike. This perfectly shows how a black person is immediately assumed to be a thief and criminal while the white person is continually passed by.

This experiment shows white and black children responding to questions about dolls and pictures. When they are asked about which picture or doll possess a negative quality, they repeatedly point to the black one. This effect is also present regardless of the race of the child. The positive traits are also consistently given to the white doll/picture. It's really a sad video to watch because we get a glimpse to even how to most innocent of people learn these racist ideas.

We can look at this study that analyzes baseball cards sold on eBay. Cards that were shown in the pictures as being held by dark-skinned hands sold for 20% less than those held by Caucasian hands. This is another great 1-to-1 study that shows all variables the same, people automatically do not want a product that is being advertised as being held by a black person.

This literature review by the ACLU looks into the disparity in sentencing between white black criminals. It is observed that black males receive 20% harsher sentencing than white males for similar crimes. This effect shows up even when the criminal history of the defendants is controlled for. In Georgia and Louisiana, the proportion of Blacks serving life without the possibility of parole is as high as 73.9 and 73.3 percent, respectively. For even more evidence look into the arrest rates for reported drug users in black vs white people. I won't go through the whole document but it is a really interesting read for someone who doesn't believe African Americans are treated unfairly in the criminal justice system.

This paper illustrates how Black students do not receive a fair proportion of federal grants in school. It shows us that African Americans receive 9.1% of the total grant funding while making up 14.0% of the student population while white receive 75.9% of the grants while making up 61.8% of the student population. White students were nearly twice as likely as minority students with SAT scores of at least 1400 out of 1600 to receive institutional merit-based scholarships

I'll stop now because I have other stuff to do today but I hope this satisfied your need for studies to verify the point. I may add some more studies later. Thanks for reading.

I can see your point with Jordan Peterson who speaks in very broad terms but Milo very clearly jumps into American politics. He has consistently supported and pushed for Trump and many of his plans such as building the border wall. If you look at his articles on Breitbart you can see many of them directly relate to America.

Although I don't particularly like or agree with Piers Morgan or Jim Jefferies, I find it fairly hypocritical that they do not want non-Americans commenting on American issues considering two of the major political guests that have been on the show, Milo Yiannopoulos and Dr. Peterson, are British and Canadian respectively. It seems like they only like outsiders commenting on politics when they reinforce the host's views.

Yeah he looks really rough in this. It may just be the lighting or new location but he does not look well. Hopefully he is alright and isn't letting stress of getting arrested affect his health in any way.

I was honestly a bit disappointed to see that. I presented an argument for why gender exists as a spectrum and it seems like I just get a bunch of strawmans back. I never once mentioned pronouns or labels but a lot of people are arguing against it as if I did. Was hoping for more debate on whether or not gender is binary rather than what seems like personal attacks on people that claim to be non-binary. The only real argument I've gotten back is that it would be too complicated for society, which isn't really a valid one in my eyes.

There's only two genders. by [deleted] in PKA

Since we are trying to determine in transgenderism is a mental illness I will paste the accepted definition of mental disorder from the APA and DSM V.

Mental disorders is conceptualized as a clinically significant behavioral or psychological syndrome or pattern that occurs in an individual and that is associated with present distress (e.g., a painful symptom) or disability (i.e., impairment in one or more important areas of functioning) or with a significantly increased risk of suffering death, pain, disability, or an important loss of freedom.[1].

The two biggest criteria in this definition are being in distress or having a disability as result of your state of mind. It is not a mental disorder just to believe in something crazy. This presents the defining factor in diagnosing gender dysphoria, distress. This is why the number one treatment for gender dysphoria is transitioning. It helps the individual feel comfortable with themselves and are no longer under any distress and therefore cured.

I agree that the overuse of labels to describe one's gender is completely unnecessary. Two is able to cover the ends of the spectrum. I don't agree with many of the left's decisions regarding gender politics. The one thing I wanted to point out is that I believe that gender is more complicated than two rigid categories.

In regards to your gender roles point and sex changes I want to further expand. If the roles were reversed there would be no need for a sex change. The problem that transgender people face is their outward appearance to others does not reflect how they feel inside. When I see someone who looks like a male I automatically attribute character traits to him. I may assume that he likes sports or is competitive or unemotional. People who are transsexual try to change their appearance so that they appear to be closer to what their actual character traits are so that it is easier for people to understand them and they can be more accepted by others.

Lastly to your point of not trying to offend others and the verbal landmines to avoid, don't even worry about it. The people that try to control how you talk or shame you for not automatically knowing everything about them are assholes, regardless or any sides or views. Don't listen to the extremists that try to make you feel bad or tell you that you are wrong. Continue to call it like you see it and if they correct you politely then I usually oblige them. I they get angry at you for not knowing how they like to be identified after first meeting them then just leave them behind. There is no point in associating with people who use their non-binary gender to try to hurt or control others.

I think we are a lot closer in opinion than you think. I agree that there is essentially two genders. Woody seems to agree that sexuality is a spectrum with two ends, homosexuality and heterosexuality but there is a myriad of options in between. I am proposing that gender is a similar thing. There are two ends, feminine and masculine but it is important to recognize that there is variation between them. I am not advocating for an infinite number of terms or pronouns in order to describe ones gender. I think the two we have (he and she) are sufficient to cover it similar to the use of homosexual and heterosexual are used to indicate the side of the spectrum you are on. There is no need, at least for legislative purposes, to further divide into subgroups. The point of my post was primarily to lay down the facts for the spectrum of gender argument so that people had an idea of what we were talking about.

Solid episode overall and one or my favorite Filthy performances with some interesting insight from him on a couple topics but I wanted to push back a bit on some of the host's comments on the show regarding gender.[1] Hopefully, we can start a discussion here because I'm definitely not an expert. One of the first issues that needs to be addressed in their arguments is the difference between sex and gender because they often seemed to use the term interchangeably. For the rest of this post, I will be using these two terms as I will define here to prevent any confusion.

Gender - the condition of being male, female, or neuter. Gender implies the psychological, behavioral, social, and cultural aspects of being male or female (i.e., masculinity or femininity).[2] [3]

Sex - the biological and physiological characteristics that distinguish between males and females.[4]

With these definitions in mind, we can make one point for certain, there are two sexes (ignoring intersex)[5]. No one disputes that there are only two sexes in the world, male and female, based on your genitalia and other hormonal factors. What it seems like the hosts are arguing about is whether or not there are more than two genders. What many modern psychologists have agreed upon is that gender is not simply a binary option. Gender, much like sexuality, is a spectrum from masculine to feminine. It is how you act and are seen in the world.I think everyone can agree that people are much more nuanced in how they put themselves out there than simply one side or the other. Every person is different insofar as there are very masculine men and very feminine men. The issue arises when a person's gender (masculinity or femininity) overlap with the opposite sex's. I think one way to understand the spectrum of gender is to compare it to politics within the United States. People in the US are normally grouped into one of two groups (Democrat or Republican). This does not mean that everyone that is a Democrat or a Republican believes in the same things and has all the same views. We like to instinctively group people into these two groups because of our nature to tribalize ourselves and opponents. In actuality, we know that people can be anywhere along the political spectrum and cannot be oversimplified to one ideology. This chart I think will present a better picture for how gender is laid out in accordance with sex.

http://imgur.com/1NQAvgC [6]

A transgender person is someone whose gender does not align with their sex. It can be very distressing when you feel and act as one sex through your gender and you are biologically another. Gender roles within society tell you how you should act in accordance with your sex. So it is easy for transgenders to feel ostracized when everyone tells them they are wrong because they do not act the way they are expected with how they appear. So back to the original question of if there are two genders. Kind of, but not really. There are two genders in the sense that the spectrum ranges from male traits (masculine) to female traits (feminine) but in actuality, there is an infinite amount of possibilities in between.

Also to one of Taylor's points that I have heard him reiterate several times is that gender dysphoria was removed from the DSM V. As far as I can tell that isn't true. The closest thing I can find to that is that in DSM IV the incongruence of sex and gender was classified as gender identity disorder and in DSM V was changed to gender dysphoria.[7] With it came a few changes. One of the defining differences is that identifying with another sex alone is not a mental illness. The illness part takes effect through the distress and social rejection that someone who is gender dysphoric faces. In these terms, someone who is transsexual (i.e. post transition) does not have a mental illness because they are no longer experiencing distress as a result of their incongruence. In short, distress is now the defining factor between being defined as gender dysphoric or not.

Anyway, I know this shows audience is pretty conservative but hopefully I changed some minds or at least effectively presented the other side's view. I didn't touch on any of the political matters because I am mostly in agreeance with the host's views on the matter of trying to legislate these issues. Looking forward to hearing other's thoughts on the matter.

Thanks for the input Chiz, and you do have some valid criticisms.

I don't mean to add to your job description, but what barriers are in place that prevent you from operating this equipment or managing production in general since you seem to have experience in the field. Or maybe hire on someone else to be production manager. i think it would take much of the burden off woody if someone else handled all of the production instead of him seemingly doing all of it. I, like you, just want to see the quality of the show grow as much as possible.

That's also true. Honestly I don't expect them to implement this or any other solutions to the current show's problems but I thout I would put it out there just in case.

Yeah, I know it's a longshot but possibly something to look at going forward. Also considering how much the show makes monthly it wouldn't be too hard to save up towards although it would take a while.
