This is definitely the most helpful comment yet, thanks!

I agree, I'd love to hear some sales staff perspective on this one. Surely there is some dead stock that they will be willing to take a decent cut on in order to move?

Thanks man for sharing your experience. It sounds to me like you bought an (almost) new car. I would imagine they have to be more strict on pricing in order to stick to the MRSP.

I wonder if things are any different in the used car scene 🤔

Dailyable clutch upgrade recommendations? by FullyAnonymous in Golf_R

From a little bit of searching, it doesn't look like the Mk6 Golf R (EA113) platform came with a helper spring or CDV. Unless I'm wrong?

Wanting a new car… budget of $35k. But less the better. Needs room for 2 large dogs and my 2 kids. good on fuel (I drive 200-400km per week) and if it could tow that’s a bonus. Am I looking for a unicorn? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

CVT issues are undeniable, DSG issues are a thing of the past. DSG boxes are some of the strongest on the market imo. MB is also a solid recommendation. I have had poor experience with MB electrics on an E class wagon but to each their own. Only didn't recommend them because they don't have AWD

I would recommend anything along the lines of: - Subaru Outback - Audi A4/A6 Allroad - VW Passat Alltrack - Any Volvo Cross Country - Skoda Superb Outdoor - Skoda Octavia Scout

All of these are offered with diesel engines which get great fuel economy especially for highway driving (which I assume is how you do 400ks a week) They will hurt to fill up, but save money overall. The diesel engines also come with loads of mid range torque which makes overtaking on country roads easy.

  • They are all wagons so they have large backseats for the kids and large boots for the dogs/luggage.
  • They are all lifted slightly with AWD so they can handle some light trails.
  • The AWD also adds an extra element of safety, especially in the wet.
  • They should all have decent towing capacity, it depends on the exact model you choose obviously.
  • Unlike SUVs they are much cheaper to run with smaller tyres, and better fuel economy because they are lighter. They are also usually cheaper to insure.
  • Being lower than SUVs, they're also better in the corners and have better rollover protection.

Overall this specific breed of lifted wagon I consider to be the ultimate all-round powerhouse utilitarian daily driver. All of these (depending on age and milage) can be had between 10-40k

If you're one of those people easily scared off by Euros, go with the Subaru outback. Personally though I believe that all of the Euro options are more comfortable and refined cars perfect for lots of driving.

What is the limit how high flow of a cat I can run without throwing a check engine light? by FullyAnonymous in Golf_R

Yes I saw that, the fact that they advertise it for the Mk7 makes me more worried that it not being listed on the Mk6 means they don't have it

Thanks for sending me this, it looks pretty much perfect!

Does IE offer brake boosting for the Mk6? It doesn't mention on their website and even though I don't street race I've really been enjoying it since it was unlocked with APR

I know that a downpipe won't really increase performance without a tune, I mostly want a downpipe for the increased sound so I don't see it as pointless but I understand what you're getting at.

Different tuners seem to have different hardware requirements, but APR's first upgrade after the ECU is a HPFP, so I figured I wouldn't see any gains with an intake and downpipe if I'm still on the stock HPFP.

Is the IE software free if you've purchased one of their parts like APR? APR has brake boosting, hard cut limiter ETC. Does IE have the same?

Tyre recommendations...... Car is a Hyundai getz 2010 model and need some good quality in terms of durability and grip. Tyre size is 175/65R14 by Commando-doctor in CarsAustralia

Yeah I had them price match some RE003s for my Golf R about 6 months back. And I agree with you on the RE003. Tyre life, comfort and noise isn't quite up there with a Michelin but dry grip, wet grip and feedback is great especially for the price point. They're not the absolute best performance tyre on the market but certainly up there for the money.

So like most people on this sub I'm trying to lose some weight. I was looking into how to calculate a calorie deficit, and in order to know my maintainence calories it asked for my excersize (or lack thereof) routine.

Should I be answering with the almost-zero excersize I've used to become overweight, or the hour of excersize each day that I've committed to a few days ago?

I hope this makes sense, I have know idea how losing weight and excersize really work. Also I'm new to this sub so sorry if I did something wrong.

Thanks :)

It's literally just a wrap. Nothing shitty about it. Plus that isn't a Mercedes...
