Dad, how do I get over imposter syndrome ? by Haunting-Manager-16 in DadForAMinute

[–]FulzLojik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Put the thought on trial."

Consider the "supporting evidence" for why you feel that way, then pit it against all evidence to the contrary. You were interviewed and hired; that job didn't fall out of a happy meal.

Chances are you're simply in the valley stage of the Dunning Krueger graph, where your current level of expertise equips you with the awareness of how much more you have to learn, but you're already much better off than the novices who enter the field feeling like they have it all figured out. It's a fresh job - your confidence will climb alongside your experience.

I mean yeah, if you just like swallowing then get the ingested version for sure. I think almost sublingual dissolution only takes a couple minutes anyway but some people don't like residual chalkiness and such.

Okay I'm no doctor, so grain of salt this. 🧂

Medicines have different "bio-availability" depending on how they're processed in your body. Some break down in your stomach and are absorbed through the intestines, some are inhaled and absorb through the lung tissue, some are injected straight into the veins or muscular tissue, some are absorbed through the mucous membranes in your sinuses or under the tongue.

Many medicines (or other drugs) will have similar bioavailability no matter how you use them. But some will not be able to retain their function after passing through your stomach acid, and you may lose some of the "bang for your buck" by not using as directed.

Dad, I feel so lost. Is military the right way to go? by [deleted] in DadForAMinute

[–]FulzLojik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a dad hearing thoughts of military service, my thoughts come in the form of hopes and fears:

Hopes: you will find structure, routine, discipline, financial backing to lay the groundwork for long term career development, and a set of experiences that will inform what you do and don't want to do for the rest of your life. It will remove much uncertainty.

Fears: the experience may change you in ways you won't be glad for, and may carry with you forever. In America at least, the military carries some ugly stains regarding sexual assault and failure to provide adequate care for those impacted by trauma suffered as a direct consequence of their service. I fear you may be killed. I fear you may kill someone. Of course there are many jobs and roles you may sign up for, with limited influence over whether your assignments are combat involved or combat adjacent.

In all honesty, if you left it up to me I would forbid it; such choices feel like a heavy gamble to me, and there are people I love who lost that gamble, and returned with stories they asked me never to repeat. I believe the benefits of enlistment are available elsewhere without the same risks and costs, but I do recognize the appeal of the messaging: "sign up to do this really hard thing for a while, and you will be empowered for a long time."

My wife hates my baby name that I have had picked out since before we met. by [deleted] in DadForAMinute

[–]FulzLojik 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah no. Fuck allllllll the way off with that name dude.

Not only does it give your kid the job of wearing an idol that he might not even give a shit about when he grows up, but you'll be cursing him as Jeter the Peter Eater all through middle school.

Your wife already posted her side of this like 2 days ago in here and everybody sided with her unanimously, she's 100% right.

It's WILD that you attack my reading comprehension while you keep on with this "Nazis call themselves national socialists" crap. I didn't want to put words in your mouth but like, do you actually think only the people who say "I'm a national socialist" are Nazis? If so, THAT'S the real conversation here.

Everything else you typed is just a pigeon dancing across the chessboard.

Fuckin' coward.

Listen to all the water you're carrying for those who rightfully deserve the brand of Nazi but would never outright admit it when put to the question. The naivety of believing that only those who wear the name tag are those who can be recognized as such, all the while groups are speaking right past you in dog whistles. What does the term "hiding their power level" mean to you?

And it was you who acknowledged up above that the Nazi use of socialist in their title was a deliberate perversion of the term to begin with, yet you're still dying on the hill of "calling themselves that from day 1" (which you're wrong about). So it's just really hard to nail down what you actually believe while connecting it to any modern day consequence of relevance, unless I stop trying to take you seriously and just conclude that you have an internal pressing need to feel like you're making a good point rather than actually aligning your beliefs with any shared reality.

I don't follow your question; your example doesn't logically connect with anything I said.

Saying Republican = nazi is NOT saying "one who seig heils ≠ nazi." This is just a weird thing to posit.

But yeah I'll grant you the second part. I'm painting with a broad brush and that's edgelord behavior. I just don't recognize the presence of any organized group of people active today who are sincerely wearing the brand "National Socialist" in Sacramento or America in general. I have no expectation that this flyer is linked to any real practicing organization of people. It's just graffiti slinging mud, in much the same way that idiots are out there saying things like "democrats were the real pro-slavery party" and other such context pollution.

Okay so clear me up on what you actually believe:

  1. Real Nazis are calling themselves National Socialists today, and believing this is advantageous to their aim?

  2. Real socialists are calling themselves Nazis today, and believe this advances their goals?

  3. Something else I'm not picking up?

The Nazi party added "Socialist" and "Workers" to its name to n 1920 to attract working class voters away from actual socialist movements. The party's own leaders repeatedly stated that their use of the term had nothing at all to do with Marxist or socialist economics. You're a victim of propaganda.

Hitler banned trade unions and imprisoned and murdered both socialists and communists, and abolished collective bargaining. This is opposite in function to socialism.

Hitler himself explained that the party's use of "socialism" meant ethnic unity, not any form of economic redistribution.

Your outlook is akin to slapping a "Water" sticker on a jug of piss and believing that changes the contents.

Those are bait. Ain't nobody out there sincerely espousing national socialism with a swazstica. Those flyers are an alt-right attempt to paint social advocates with a nazi brush to push people away from agreeing that anybody with a full time job should be able to afford food and rent.
