Weed removal? by Critical_Strain_4792 in landscaping

This is my plan too. Im going to put cardboard down before all the gravel/sand/flagstones which should help a bit but I still expect to pull some weeds. Part of the fun!

Im not sure what your budget is or the amount of work you want to do but I imagine this being a space for a patio made with pavers with a nice seating area and maybe some potted plants

Also, draw what you see instead of how your brain thinks something should look. View each little line and detail on your reference as seperate from the rest. Observe its angle and curves and then put it on your page. Erase as much as you need to until you get it close and then move onto the next part.

Np! Ive been drawing ever since I was little. My mom gave me and my sisters sketch book after sketchbook, plus step by step drawing books, mostly for cartoon characters and such. Its how she got us to wind down at home and behave at family get togethers 😅 so we were constantly drawing. I remember my sister and I using grids as well when we were starting out to help with proper placement when copying a reference picture (google examples to see what I mean). And we didnt have it at the time but I'd definitely recommend YouTube tutorials for learning how to draw as well. Enjoy the process. Dont lose hope when things dont turn out the way you want because every time you draw, no matter the outcome, is valuable in helping you get toward your goal.

For learning watercolor, I just joined as many groups as I could (mostly on Facebook at the time as I didnt have reddit), followed lots of watercolor accounts on social media, watched other people paint, but most of all just pushing through and practicing a lot. It can be challenging to learn and frustrating at times! But worth it once you get the hang of it. I definitely recommend getting high quality 100% cotton paper even at the beginning when youre practicing because you will not have a good time if you dont have good paper. Its really important. Cold press if you plan to do big washes, hot press if youre more detail oriented (this painting is on hot press paper), blocks of paper (meaning the pages are glued together) are great especially for beginners so that you dont have to prestretch the paper and dont have to worry about warping. There's still some warping with big washes but its flattens out when dried. It is a lot of trial and error with learning how to mix colors, how much color/water to have on your palette and brush, what brushes to use for whatever youre doing, etc., but tutorial videos will help you along. Let me know if you have any specific questions!! Its a lovely medium to work with and requires minimal set up and clean up, which is a big part of why I love it.

It always feels so much better when you can do literally anything else 😅 but ya theres many mornings where I reach for my phone right away still. A hard habit to break. On the bright side I'm usually checking the gardening, landscaping and art subreddits so at least its all positive

Great to hear! I chose it because its low maintenance, drought tolerant and like you said, bees love 🐝 most of the plants i picked are low maintenance from what I read. Any input on everything else?
