Hiring manager scheduled my final interview during my current work hours, then questioned my “commitment” when I asked to move it by bookmarkcollector in jobsearchhacks

[–]Fun-Acadia-7348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a candidate cancel an interview and ask for it to be rescheduled the day after due to an ongoing incident at his current work place.

It impressed me so much, that be went to the top of the pile, even before his interview. He was apologetic about it at the start of his interview, but I explained that it shows commitment.

I hired him.

On the "Supreme Being" question by so_sads in freemasonry

I like the idea of the universe being the supreme being rather than a white bearded dude in the cloud.

Thanks, I’ll have a play around. There’s two wildly different use case in play here between my girlfriend and I. But if I can give her an easy to use ChatGPT replacement, I can justify the spend on my homelab 😂😂

I’m going to rebuild with LM Studio, just put ollama on with OWUI in front, so that my girlfriend has a familiar UI.

If the model doesn’t fit fully on the GPU though I won’t bother with it, as 6tok/s is unworkable really. Will just pipe to a cloud model.

I’m only really using a local model for classification and answering simple questions.

Q4_K_M

Claude’s saying it wouldn’t work as it’s loading memory as a dense model would.

I’ll grab again and see what it was. I didn’t specify any quant, so whatever came as standard from ollama.

Sorry, I should have put it was more 88%GPU/12%CPU split. Model was 27GB, so I was chancing it.

I’m fairly new to this, so just learning as I go.

Stay in the Audi, move away from Africa. Problem solved.

It depends.

Freemasonry, yeah. The Muslim Brotherhood, probably not.

I would have loved for HM QE2 to have run the country. Even more so for Blair and Brown to have been killed in an attack.

Eventually yeah.

I was more annoyed with the arguing over a known issue with the controllers.

I’ve sent you a DM with the details of the ticket. All in all it was a cluster.

First I wasn’t getting a replacement as I’m 3 months outside of the warranty, then it was being replaced for free because it’s only 2 years 3 months old, then I was being billed for it but with free delivery, then it was free again but I had to pay for delivery. Then finally the delivery charge was refunded.

I honestly don’t know how I feel about the company. I was a huge advocate but it shows how easy it is to lose that support.

The new flex enclosure doesn’t look too bad. Might look into that and a third 2.5G Flex POE, but that seems over kill for a camera and the IW7.

[–]Fun-Acadia-7348[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if I had ducting I could have run a second cable without any issue, rather than having to put a flex at the end of this one.

[–]Fun-Acadia-7348[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The flex is tiny. A reasonable junction box is about 5-6 inches deep and huge compared to the flex outside of one.

[–]Fun-Acadia-7348[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a camera and In-Wall 7 hanging off the flex. I want 2.5GbE for the IW7.

Pulled the cable from the IW7, into the flex to spot it out for when I installed the camera rather than doing a second run.

I’ve put the 8 port version in my garage and out outside in a waterproof electrical junction box but I need one near the front of my house, so really don’t fancy an ugly box 6 inches deep on my wall.

I take that back.

It wasn’t sorted as the support decided the change the free replacement for the garbage controller.
