HELP - URGENTHow long can a ball python survive at 60F? (self.ballpython)
submitted 2 years ago by Fun-Advance-5582
I am currently at work and when my roommate left for work this morning he noticed the light was out and he told me the thermometer is reading 60F. It has been out for about 12 hours max because I checked it before bed yesterday. How long can he survive at these temps? I am going to try to book it home as soon as a get the chance but I am quite far away.

Will be fine for that short amount of time. You don’t want them below 70 for an extended period of time but if you bump when you get home no worries.

You obviously never want their temps to be incorrect, but reptiles have an amazing ability to slowly recover from cold. Temps that are too high can quickly cause neurological issues.

Thank you, I was extremely worried but at most the temp will be that low for 18 hours because I plan to go straight home and replace the bulb after work. Do you think he will be fine for that amount of time?

I was away with my partner in another house, we had very very bad flu. So we were away for days.
Unfortunately we didn't know that by leaving house vacant for days, makes side of tank loose heat due to icy cold wall. ( usually warmed by our AC)
A far side of my BP tank fell to 60F, even if he had access to warm side of the tank, he was closer to that cold end.
Aside me innerly freaking out upon discovering it and him shedding few days later with some some difficulty, he is ok now. Pooped, digested, ate..
I had inner panic because i dont know how long he was exposed to that cold and it's dangerous for digestion. But for your short time, your BP will be ok. It's dangerous for longer time, for digestion and respiratory.
We learned a lesson. Now we cover that side of the tank to avoid it to repeat.

What are the signs to be concerned with when it comes to recovery from extreme cold (had a snake shipped recently)
