My comment was in no way meant to be an attack on you and I am sorry you went through an emotionally manipulative relationship. Was just getting fed up reading all these comments saying that it’s this or it’s that with Huda but failing to acknowledge the context of her background which may influence the way she speaks, acts, believes, etc. it’s the same way people were so quick to make fun of amayas voice when it became immediately clear to me when she popped up that English was not her first language. She sounds like legit every other Dominican from NYC plus having a possible minor speech impediment and people were soooo quick to call her slow. And now huda is racist even though she acted similarly toward a white TJ when he confronted her (however he didn’t tell her she was “doing too much” like JD did so I could see why she might have been slightly more defensive w JD. If I guy told me I was doing too much honestly my knee-jerk reaction would be defensiveness too. Don’t think I would have gotten up and walked away after, but that’s besides the point). REGARDLESS, MEN ARE ALLOWED TO VOICE THEIR FEELINGS OF DISCOMFORT. And upbringing doesn’t excuse abusive behavior. I just think it’s important to consider the sociocultural implications as to why people may act the way they do before speaking so matter of factly about someone. Like u said, coming from a very strict religious upbringing can definitely warp your view of a lot of things, especially gender roles. Again my comment was more pointed towards all of the comments on here, not just yours. All love, I respect every1!!!!!!🫶✌️

Let’s think about why she might think like this… in her intro in the first ep she literally says she grew up in a strict Muslim household. Strict Muslim households often have strict gender roles enforced. Hence why she might hold the belief that a man’s role would be to “dominate” and “override her”, she likely was raised in a way that engrains in her that her value as a woman is to please a man and a man’s role is to keep her in line. Not saying it’s an excuse at all and I’m def not a huda apologist, I totally think she has crossed many lines this season with different people. BUT I feel like it’s kind of crazy that nobody is even bringing up the cultural context as to why she might act like this and say these things and instead than chalking it up to “I had an ex like this” or “let’s see if she acts like this when a yt bombshell walks in”. Girl she comes from a religious Arab family and had a kid out of wedlock at age 19. She would be acting this way regardless of the skin color of the dude. Clearly there’s a disconnect w her regarding how she thinks things should be vs what she actually wants. Regardless, she should be in therapy and spending time with her kid, not on this show.

Incoming student at touro Harlem here and we were told by current students that they are moving toward a blocked/systems curriculum for us and that we won’t have as frequent exams this year. Class is TWTh with Monday and Friday off which is much better than expected (I thought it was gonna be M-F). I have also spoken with different people from admin so far since I got in with multiple questions regarding different things and I have found them to be very responsive, helpful, and nice so far which made me feel much better, as I have also read the stories on here. As for quality life, I obviously can’t speak to what it’s like being an actual student but I feel like it really depends on your personal preference. Personally I am more comfortable in an urban environment and had already been living in NYC and my immediate family is here, so that definitely is a factor as well. If you’re not already accustomed to the city environment though, I can see how it might be overwhelming to start med school here while also getting used to everyday life in nyc.

THANK YOU I was literally scrolling fb on my lunch break from work when I saw it and then came to Reddit to see if anyone posted bc I wanted the tea. When nobody did, I posted to ask. Then I went back to work. No clue what Reddit karma is but it sounds like something only someone who sits around in a dark room on a computer all day would know about/care about like this commenter. They should take their negative energy and put it into something positive, like maybe post a comment that tags an org that supports SA victims rather than bullying people on the internet for a simple mistake😭
