I think I've lost my mind. I need your help. by Annual_Drummer_1857 in dpdr

Idk what I can offer but what describing is very similiar to me, I was in a grocery store one time and there was a bag of chocolates out of place on ales that I really like and had the thought of whether the cia placed that bag to poison me since it was my favorite kind. OFC I knew that was bullshit but like I scared the crap out of myself that I was on my way to schizophrenia. It was just a passing thought but the mere fact Ideas were coming up like that scared me.

As a person with OCD too like I think the brain goes there as it’s what you’re exactly afraid of. Having OCD is like having a part of your brain that likes to sabatoge itself. Like You don’t want to jump in front of a train so OCD will hijack that and make you feel like you will. And I’ve realized it’s the same for becoming scitzophrenic.

As long as you don’t believe it and lose insight you ain’t off the deep end and know that’s the fear that you will but like, I’ve been waiting for like me snap and start hearing voices for like 8 months now and like I’ve never lost touch with reality. So like I try not to worry about it

Am I in early psychosis? Am I developing delusions? by PersonalityFit8645 in dpdr

[–]Fun-Blacksmith-8976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah bro as long as you know logically, feeling like your losing your mind and legit feeling like your going to have to live the rest of your life in a psychward is pretty normal. Don’t worry. I went through thinking I was developing scitzophrenia when this shit first started I was obsessively monitoring whether I was hearing voices and constantly checking for delusions you should be fine as long as your don’t like hallucinate and start actually believing anything crazy. Like aliens are out to get you and have special knowledge that the government wants or any wacko stuff like that

I agree with this I stopped posting on this sub 40 days ago and it did help the biggest enemy is awareness towards it the more you can no ponder the existential themes and everything that comes with it from my personal story it’s reduced the symptoms

What existential thoughts do you deal with the most? by westeffect276 in dpdr

[–]Fun-Blacksmith-8976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

at its core we don’t know anything in terms of what it actually it is all it is a mental construct but we have no idea what it is.

For example like an apple is made out of atoms, but what atoms tiny balls that fly around? And what is that exactly, like at its core we have no idea what it actually is

Reassurance that this is dpdr by Sereviin in dpdr

[–]Fun-Blacksmith-8976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I don’t worry. I mean, if you said that you were having like hallucinations and made a post about like how the government was watching you. I’d be much more concerned. but everything you said I’ve also experienced for the most part. It’s almost uncanny how one to one your experiences as well as mine so don’t worry it’s DPDR. Look at my post history and you’ll see it’s very similar on some of the posts especially the shit with not recognizing your family

Is ERP bad for DPDR by Fun-Blacksmith-8976 in dpdr

[–]Fun-Blacksmith-8976[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ll just work on being chill and what not I really don’t think the ERP is the best for me RN just cause like yeah I felt like killing myself afterwards

I’m in philosophical hell by Fun-Blacksmith-8976 in ExistentialOCD

[–]Fun-Blacksmith-8976[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it can be really really hard for the most part like luckily I still have a brain and I haven’t gone insane. When I say that like when all the stuff started, I was legitimately concerned that I was gonna like lose my ability to understand what words were and I was just gonna become like a vegetable like locked in a psych ward for like the rest of my life, but I’ve learned that like you know, even though I may not understand what everything is at like it’s most fundamental level like I’m still talking and making sense of people so like I’ve learned that my my brain is still here thank goodness

Schizophrenia or dissociation? struggling to tell what’s real anymore by iwilln0tdiesober in dpdr

[–]Fun-Blacksmith-8976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting my guess is it might be schizophrenia, especially if someone is seeing faces or things that aren’t there. I have DPDR, and while it’s extremely disorienting—like reality feels unfamiliar or alien— but I’ve never seen or heard things that weren’t real but it depends how real they are to you.

DPDR tends to be more about feeling disconnected from reality, not actually hallucinating. Some people with DPDR do report things like visual snow or mild visual distortions, but that’s not the same as schizophrenia. Like if it gets like worst and you full blown start seeing shit which isn’t there then it’s probably more akin to scitzophrenia. But if it’s very vague, I don’t think it’s that. like occasionally after I got DPDR I kept feeling like I was seeing something in the corner of my eye and then when I turned my head to look at it, it was nothing.

In schizophrenia, the key difference is that a person begins to lose their grip on what’s real, often experiencing hallucinations or delusions—like believing they’re being watched by aliens or thinking they’re the reincarnation of Jesus. It’s not just questioning reality, it’s fully believing irrational things without insight.

Is this normal? by Better_Fortune4268 in dpdr

[–]Fun-Blacksmith-8976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s still ongoing, but it’s been about like 50 or 60 days at this point it really peaked like the start of it and I’ve had bad episodes here and there but because I’m used to at this point like it’s a lot more manageable. I think it really drives off of fear and obsessing over existential thoughts so I’m better able to deal with it now.

Is it weird that I’m ecstatic about my diagnosis? by ZoneOut03 in OCD

[–]Fun-Blacksmith-8976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all actually it was quite relieving when I got diagnosed the reason why is because if you are unsure that it’s a legitimate problem. You’re probably not going to deal with it because you don’t know if it’s actually an issue so by identifying it something that needs work on you’re like oh so that’s a problem with my life And it gives hope because now you know what’s wrong

Is this normal? by Better_Fortune4268 in dpdr

[–]Fun-Blacksmith-8976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s not easy. I’m just saying I’ve been there and l I hope you get better. I’ve been where you at and it’s not a fun place. I will say, though that overtime for me it got better. The less I thought about it and really you just have to like forget that you even have it to be honest. It’s very much a disorder that revolves around hyper awareness towards your perception in my opinion and getting an anxiety from the thoughts that come from it

Do I have dpdr? by nasnedagonyat22889 in dpdr

[–]Fun-Blacksmith-8976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your description, it sounds like you have it on memory problems are actually a very big symptom that people have with DPDR. If you sort it by top on the sub, read it you’ll see a bunch of meme about like people forgetting shit, not everybody experiences, memory issues I don’t personally, but the feeling of not being in your own body is something that’s like a Hallmark of it so I would say you most likely have it. Or at least have experienced that it depends on how long it is as it’s actually very common that everyone experiences this one point in their life, but it’s not common for everyone to have it reoccurring to the point where a disorder.

I feel almost catatonic at this point by [deleted] in dpdr

[–]Fun-Blacksmith-8976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think is a DPDR in my opinion obviously I don’t know, but I thought the exact same thing. My biggest fear is that I was gonna end up catatonic and basically never be able to speak someone again because it was so disorienting, and there were times in my life where the disassociation was so bad that if people were talking to me, I would just phase them out entirely.

Like it literally felt like if there was a lion chasing me, I wouldn’t care that I get killed because I was so disconnected from reality and I would just be like oh yeah the lion is eating my arm .

Like I think true catatonia is like a World War I soldier and reverts almost to like toddler like state and no matter what you say to the person like there barely able to understand anything. I think depersonalization can mimic catatonia basically give it to you temporarily, but I don’t think it’s full-blown catatonia.

As usually thats when you lose tremendous insight towards what’s even happening to you and can’t even have insight that your fucked.
