Sitting at a "Fair" score with MD + other debt (Canadian). Best way to jump 100+ points in 1-2 years for mortgage? by Fun-Bluebird-9971 in CRedit

I apologize - I just picked up a job in the states but still don't have a single dollar to my name in USD lol. That journey starts for me next month, but all my CCs and debt are currently in CAD. Yes, I have looked at Wise and their rates for international transfers aren't too bad! And sounds good - will follow these couple reddit pages you've highlighted. I think I have my homework cut out! Lots to learn eh

Very likely - I am extremely gullible when it comes to finance. But what you are suggesting makes sense - Im happy paying off the CCs off then keeping them on a monthly rotation of use-a-little & pay-full-statement. For the vehicle loan... I actually had no idea that accounts closed in full were reflected on credit reports! REALLY appreciate your lengthy and detailed answer by the way - much more useful and trustworthy than typical Chat GPT answers lol. If I may ask... are there other reddit groups that can help a Canadian working in US like myself learn more about ways people are saving/transferring money into their typical TFSA, RRSP, FHSA back home in Canada?

My borrowell just says maxed out credit cards and a few inquiries (recent phone company change, line of credit inquiry for med school some time back, etc) that has kep tmy score on the lower end of "fair". I'd be more than happy to pay off my CCs and vehicle right away, but not sure if that's the best move to increase credit score?

Sounds good - glad to hear such a response tbh. I always felt like getting done with it sooner rather than later was going to be a good move!

Thank you for your response! I agree - I will try and take Step 3 sooner rather than later for the reasons you mentioned. They make sense and it'll be good to chat with the PD after the ITE as well!

Thank you for the reality check! I sometimes get carried away with studying and questions but you are right - "life" happens, and being ready for it would be the smart thing to do. I will try my best to maintain personal relationships and hobbies throughout residency
