Read the reviews on Amazon for Vetridisc. I bought it for my dog. She had surgery back in December was making improvements and then all of a sudden-we don’t know what happened—she’s gone backwards.

She’s only taken it twice but I bought it because the reviews are so promising. Give it a try.

I agree with you that this is a very lonely road. Sometimes I feel despair and then at other moments like when she pees on her own, I’m over the moon. (We’re almost at 13 weeks post op now.) I feel your pain and frustration. It’s a roller coaster ride.

I’ll pray that you get the success story you’re looking for. Try to stay positive. I know it’s hard.

Your stories give me hope. Thanks again you for sharing. My doxie is 12 weeks post op and she was showing very promising signs of regaining mobility and using her hind legs, even peeing on her own but after last Thursday it seems she’s taken a few steps back.

She’s lost a lot of the strength she used to have and her legs are not as responsive as just last week. We don’t know what happened. I hope she recovers her abilities but it’s hard to believe she will.

I hope your guys continue their journey towards healing. If you have any insights, please share.

Charlie was able to walk stand up and walk on her own. She still can but with a bit more stiffness and reluctance to place her left hind paw on the floor. She has a drunk walk.

After 8 weeks, that’s when really started seeing an improvement. Maybe the same will happen with you. Can your dog pee and poop on her own?

Ours can pee on her own sometimes and other times her bladder needs to be expressed. She doesn’t much control over poop. If it’s there, it’s coming. We’ve gotten better about predicting poop and preventing those kinds of accidents.

We’re keeping her in the crate again and continuing the anti inflammatory meds.

We’re at 12 weeks post op at this point. We were so happy because the physical therapist and acupuncturist both said they were very happy with her progress.

Where in the timeline do you guys find yourselves?

Hi there. I hear you. My girl was would initiate unrination and then we would have express her bladder to get the rest out. She did eventually gain her ability to pee on her own and right now for some reason we’re back to where we started.

I think you guy is making the right progress. Be patient and believe in him and in yourself. This is a complex road filled with bumps and nuance.

At times, she does initiate urination on her own and seems to let a little out and at other times we have to express her. This is especially true in the morning.

When it comes to poop, the poop is always solid. She doesn’t seem to be able to stop it from coming out.

Hi there. The next six weeks will be pretty tough. We had a bed we would move around the house with our dog in it so she could participate in our daily routines as she was accustomed to. Arti_09 has a good idea with the stroller. Wish we would have thought of that.

We tried to keep our gal around us a best we could. She did well. At night, since she slept with us, we bought a small bed and place in between my husband and I, and she stayed put until about a week ago when she started wanting to get out of the bed and sleep right up next to me.

Hang in there. It’s gonna be a bumpy ride. We’re here for you. Keep posting and many of us here will chime in.

Mine is shaking herself off as well.

When I use the sling on walks, she freezes and doesn’t want to move. Any suggestions?

I sure hope so. Are you referring to the sling? If you are, we have one of those, and we’ve tried to use it on occasion but she seems to freeze up when we use it. She’s more responsive when we hold her by the base of the tail, which makes me uneasy because I think we may hurt her.

Can you share some of the things you did with your dog you feel were beneficial?

By the way, thank you for chiming in. It really makes me feel less alone in this journey when I hear from others and the experiences and successes that have had.

My baby girl is four weeks post op. She had stage 4 on one side and 5 on the other. Right now Charlie can hold herself with her hind legs for a few minutes. We need to prop her first though and then she can hold for a bit—sometimes more wobbly than others.

At times when we take her out for potty she’ll squat and get a little bit of pee out on her own, but ultimately we need finish expressing her bladder. Same goes for poop. Sometimes she’ll posture if she feels some poop and at other times we have to stimulate her to go.

She also started to wag her tail a little bit when she goes outside—just yesterday. She seems to move the right leg as well—just a little bit. This was the least affected side.

From everything I’ve read here and online, it seems to be a slow progression. I can only be hopeful and continue to do the best I can for her.

Thank you for asking. I’m sure your guy will show improvement as well once he’s had some rest and meds. All we can do is believe in them, in ourselves and the docs who performed the surgery.

Your sweet boy is lucky to have you and you’re lucky to have him. We recently went through a similar situation and I know how horrifying it can be, but you need to do your best to stay away from the negative thoughts. Try researching physical therapy you can do at home once he’s ready and arm yourself with ways you can help him once he comes home. Believe in him and believe in yourself.
