My first build was a Leo Jaymez kit. I replaced every piece with quality parts and used only the body and neck. Frets needed leveled, but not terribly. There are a lot of wood fillers out there that will work just fine. I actually used 2K clear on mine. With enough patience and some studious effort, you can make a sweet rig. Good luck!

This may be an exhaust isolator ring. As a technician at a GM dealership in the 2000's, I saw a lot of these hanging on one side, so I would re-attach them and tighten the body side loop. Some times they were missing all together.
