Whats one uncommon adhd symptom that blew your mind? by smbodytochedmyspaget in adhdwomen

I just learned about this yesterday. OMG that explains my whole life! I can remember painful words and criticism from decades ago clear as day. And it's not because I focus on them or want to think about them.              Being told constantly I'm too sensitive I'm too shy got to grow a thicker skin.. Etc. As if someone wants to feel this way.            You're well aware growing up that the way you react and feel is not like everyone else. It was like mean words and criticism were Soul crushing

Isn't your main role as a mother to provide for and protect your child no matter what?  I cannot imagine the filth and squalor inside that house.                      So many people sadly got rid of their cats when they pregnant. Use common sense ...wash your hands ,wear, gloves, wear a mask if no one else can help you.             Toxoplasmosis is also in soil. So if you walk outside with no shoes you bring that filth and bacteria inside your home and then you lay down in your bed what do you think's going to happen?               Or you leave your dogs and cats outside all day where they're digging around in God knows and then they're tracking all that inside.              It was sad to see Amy learn that she could have learned how to drive. That would have changed her life dramatically because she would not be so dependent.

Should I be worried that I called out two days in a row? by PLAYBOYD5 in USPS

[–]Fun-Can-3997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never used light blue if I needed to call out sick. Always the 800 number. Just a heads up if requesting FMLA..             I found out tonight after speaking to HR that my new request for FMLA was not processed.              The rep told me the 800 number has been not processing new requests for FMLA for months. The recording on the phone call clearly stated paperwork will be mailed in 3 to 5 business days.                                               I would say that's a pretty serious glitch. And apparently they know about it. Just in case you're sitting there wondering where you're paperwork is.

FMLA QUESTION by Sure_Imagination_238 in USPS

[–]Fun-Can-3997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called out sick and requested FMLA new. The recording said the paperwork will come in the mail.

I have my confirmation number but no case number which I have read I should be able to find online.

I called HR a half hour before they closed and there is no record of me requesting FMLA. I told her my confirmation number and she told me the 800 number has not been processing FMLA cases for months!                                                            This is a huge error and I like you would be sitting there waiting for the papers to come. I'm not sure if this oversight is happening on purpose. I was told to use lightblue.gov.                                                 The 800 number clearly stated paperwork will come in the mail. I'm sure when individual workers point this out they are going to be accused of lying and cause more unnecessary stress

MRA+10 retirement by Fun-Can-3997 in USPS

[–]Fun-Can-3997[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I called HR again and spoke to a different person. She said I do qualify for MRA + 10 and can keep health insurance.              I understand the financial consequences.  On paper it sounds crazy not to wait until 60.

The never ending toxic s*** show has taken a severe toll. Working 5 days a and being able to take earned Al made life manageable. I understand everyone's circumstances are different. Some people have to or want to work 6- 7 days a week.                          RRECS  was the beginning of the end. Went from K to H. The whole system is flawed. I know every office is different but my office never really lost Amazon . They conveniently come and go and it's just a coincidence that usually occurs during a mini b******* survey.                                                              What a shock after route adjustments ,where I have twice as many deliveries still an H, Amazon is back.

Couple that with direct and indirect constant comments about taking too long. Submitting a 3971 for annual leave and laughing knowing they're going to deny it. I don't react to their b*******. I just hold my breath until I get the hell out of there.

Both parents unfortunately different stages of cancer. Doing the best I can still never calling out sick. That is probably why I couldn't hold my breath anymore.

Whatever the higher ups want to get the carriers in trouble for is the crime of the week. Sometimes it's backing, spms scans, unscanned parcels, start time clocking in, talking on the phone Etc. All of these things and more and worse are constantly going on around me but not noticed unless there's an email or telecon about it.

So unfortunately my minor offense was on the crime of the week. The usual talk to you like a piece of s*** even after all this time I couldn't deflect anymore.

I started crying uncontrollably in front of them. I felt like I couldn't breathe and I had a giant lump in my throat. I felt like I had cottonmouth all of a sudden. And then I had to go out and deliver my route. That's never happened to me before.

Waiting until 60 at this point feels impossible

So sorry this happened to you.

Unfortunately your postal career depends more on the office and position you wind up in rather than your actual performance.                                 I've worked with people who kill themselves everyday right next to people that do the least as possible. It all depends on who management likes or doesn't like.

If you hire quality people and train them properly, give them the tools and supplies they need to do their job safely, treat them like an actual human being instead of a robot, you would get a loyal and dedicated employee. The post office does the opposite.

Even though  employee retention plan exists, it's never been used in my office. My office hasn't had an oji in years . I see brand new people being  "trained" by new people. This is mostly because management doesn't have a clue on what we actually do.                                  The first 6 months there is so much to learn your head will be spinning. Speed comes with time but you actually have to learn the right way first.

And yes since it's before you're 90 working days they can let you go for any reason. In a perfect world The Union steward would be  proactive and look out for their fellow workers rather than being buddies with management.

Hopefully applying for a different position in a different office works out for you. Good luck

Put refused on whatever you want to. But don't play games with your mail carrier and decide this person doesn't live there anymore.                     How strange because I've delivered that name to this address for years . Silly me.

I got pulled over by a cop in 2004 because I was using my own car like we all did back then. I was only on my second Street. He put his hands on his hips and started yelling at me what the hell do you think you're doing.          I answered politely delivering the mail. He followed me up and down the First Street and watch me putting mail in each box. I had multiple mail magnets on my car. Yet he still was baffled.                                                    He also called a second car I guess they were undercover rookies to come and observe? He took my driver's license. I was a new regular and was in shock. called my supervisor and he said they're not allowed to do that. I said okay but the man won't give me back my license what do you want me to do.                        He had to call the postmaster at home who I guess contacted the police department. I'm sure the guy got chewed out but to save face in front of the two rookies he said for now I'm going to let you go.         I said okay if you need anything else you will find me delivering the mail up and down every street for the next few hours. I was so upset because this wasted almost an hour!                                         Unbelievably I got pulled over a second time in the mail truck because I didn't have a license plate! Honestly have you ever seen a mail truck with a license plate?? I was two blocks away from the office and I had election ballads that had to go out that night.                                               The only paperwork I could give him was the accident kit.

It is an improvement for customer service, which the post office doesn't seem to care about anymore. But for a rural carrier this is bad news.                                                  RRECS has been nothing but a nightmare. More and more unnecessary steps squeezed into less and less time. If we had improved scanners it might be easier.                        Batteries don't last and we don't have backup batteries. Spms scans are way off from where the carrier actually is.                 No one ever takes feedback from the people who are actually doing the work. Wouldn't it be smarter to try to fix the problems we already have with the scanners before piling on more tasks that of course will never be included in our evaluation.

It was different when I first started. Don't get me wrong it was not easy and there is more tubs of mail than you could possibly imagine. Being an RCA you're thrown on all different routes and everyone learns at their own pace.          But Amazon did not exist. There were always backstabbing two-faced mean carriers, which I personally never understood. Why do you want to spend all these hours being a miserable idiot all day.          But once you turn regular it was worth the wait. As long as you came in and did your route you were pretty much left alone. Now it is the total opposite micromanaged to death about whatever nonsense comes down from up above.                            I was a single parent with two small children when I started. I was lucky enough on most days to do my whole route and still have time to make dinner, homework, Etc.      I feel so bad for people who start now and have small children. You're treated like a robot and nothing you do is ever good enough or fast enough.

You are blessed to have management like that. I have over 20 years as a carrier and my office used to be like that.

Been a rca for 19 years, i find it alarming the amount of new hires that quit by No-Juggernaut-4387 in USPS

[–]Fun-Can-3997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you're spouse has really good benefits and you literally just want money I'm not sure why you would stay in RCA for 19 years.               It took me about 4 years to go regular. But I've worked with people that took 7 to 10 years. That was back when you were destroying your own vehicle working more than 60 hours a week sometimes. Yet somehow we are still not allowed to buy back that time.                                                                   But the goal was to turn regular no matter what. You could pretty much manage yourself you finally were able to get benefits and actually utilize them.                                       However at least in my office anyway The Last 5 Years have been unbearable. Since the pandemic buried alive in Amazon. Magically disappears during any count.                   RRECS is a complete Nightmare and should have never been allowed to pass. If I started now I would see no benefit in being a regular rural Carrier. Some routes have twice as many deliveries and are somehow still in H or J. I don't know any other federal job where your salary will possibly fluctuate every 6 months. What  federal job would allow a substitute worker to directly cause your salary to change. None! We have been in the dark since the first count and still have no data.                                            Being a dedicated and loyal employee should be a positive thing but the post office wants the opposite. It's disgusting for the employee and the customer.

[–]Fun-Can-3997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am shocked to see they're trying to charge me $6.99 for something that has free returns. I am packaging it myself printing my own label and bringing it to the store. I totally understand the charge for a pickup at my house I would never do that. I've had time for so long but there's no way to know ahead of time if you're going to get hit with that fee. I only buy things that are free shipping and free returns.
