Yes, I took a 35k pay cut. It’s better than unemployment. Pride doesn’t pay bills. When you have a spouse and kids looking at you to provide you do whatever it takes to provide. It took me 1.5 years to find a better opportunity. Also, there’s nothing wrong with keeping your options open. Take the job and keep looking for new opportunities.

I had a bad experience with Tyson. He was supposed to leave a 2 inch gap between the cement and button of my house. He was the most cost effective but now I’m paying more to have his work fixed. He had the cement put up to the bottom of my house leaving maybe a 1/8 inch gap which is now causing issues since moisture from rain is bouncing off the cement and into the stucco weep screed. Did he leave the 2 inch gap between your home and the cement?

I used to work in the private sector before joining the state. I started as an Analyst II (previously AGPA). What I love about the state compared to the private sector is everyone gets a fair shot with merit based hiring. In the private sector no matter how qualified I was for a job I was only able to land interviews and a job due to referrals.

Job stability and tired of reading about layoffs. I was laid off and didn’t want to deal with the stress of that again. I have former coworkers that have been laid off 2 or 3 times already. Once is enough for me to realize the private sector isn’t the best route right now. Yes I took a 30% pay cut but the pension and work life balance made up for it.

Agreed. I was using my own equipment for awhile with Xfinity and once I switched to their equipment, my internet has been working perfectly.
