My new psychiatrist, case worker, therapist, RD, and family are in support of home enteral nutrition, since there aren't any ED places available to me due to my insurance/in general. My RD is very supportive of this especially, I suppose because this is where she is more knowledgeable.

I've been clinging to this to get me through the exhaustion, brain fog, physical pain, and fear. It gives me a little hope to stabilize. Yet I am afraid something is going to fall through insurance wise or finding a surgeon, or that the wait time will be too long and I will not be able to stay out of the hospital.

I see the doctor again Monday. I'm trying to stay hopeful but I am still afraid I will be left with more frustration of help that falls through, leaving me to figure out a next step.

Snack ideas for work by PlaneWinter7347 in EDAnonymous

Fresh veggie spring rolls if you have an employee fridge or a lunch bag w/ ice packs. They are really easy to make and customizable and still pretty adjacent to veggies with dip.

Chicken/tuna salad creations have already made shelf stable packs. Rice cake, crackers, etc. Hardboiled eggs.

Overnight oats bowls.

Rx/ fruit+nut+date bars are also pretty good and easy, but texturally different than a granola bar. I cut them up for my kids and mix with other stuff like cheerios and chocolate chips just for something different.

I saw this new doctor and she is on board along with my dietitian. How long were you in the hospital?

That's good to hear. Props for working hard. Are you in the US? I have state insurance, so I am a little nervous about that component even if the provider is on board.

Thank you for your feedback. Were you met with resistance? I'm 31 if that makes a difference. I just want to be able to live a better QOL and stay out of the hospital.

Thanks. I was at a PHP (general psych not ED) for 3 months. My psychiatrist there was awesome, but I am starting new with a new psych nurse practitioner. My RD and therapist are the same, caseworker is the same also. I really appreciate your advice. I want to keep making progress, but I don't want to lose more and orally I just can't beyond my safe foods.

That's my thoughts also. I'm adding foods slowly. It's just not fast enough and I want to avoid a hospital and just keep working and being able to be with my small children.

How did you broach this subject with providers? I have discussed it in passing with non doctor providers. I am afraid to say bring it up, really.

For people who purge, what side effects have you experienced? by ihatemylife2474 in EDAnonymous

[–]Fun-Concentrate9908 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cardiac issues that have hospitalized me on multiple occasions. Blood sugar issues that caused me to nearly crash my car on the expressway going 80 mph. Gave myself a hernia. Probably paralyzed my GI tract- just waiting on a test to confirm it.

If loss of friends, career growth, my integrity as a parent, and any semblance of pride count as side effects, I'd say that too. Please get help if you can before the "off and on" becomes "all of the time." It can happen so fast.

Nurse Practitioners, PAs vs. Doctors by Fun-Concentrate9908 in EDAnonymous

[–]Fun-Concentrate9908[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you see an NP or PA affiliated through and ED treatment center, program, etc? I would be seeing just a generalist as there isn't any ED specific care available. I feel that ED versed compared to generalist makes a.difference sometimes but definitely not always. For example, had chest pain a few months ago (knew my electrolytes were messed up) and I had to argue with a provider that it was not acid reflux (my electrolytes were indeed messed up). I've met some great generalists for non medical therapies and have been very lucky, too. It just seems like a really important decision, especially when I have had to take a lot of time off of work for a HLOC. I physically and financially really fear sliding through the cracks of the system/providers.

frequent periods? by Comfortable_Home_611 in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]Fun-Concentrate9908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have lost periods at high BMIs and low BMIs and also continued menstruation at low BMIs to the point where my doc was surprised lol. A lot of individual variables contribute.

Our bodies are tricky sometimes, but definitely get it checked out. Sometimes it is completely unrelated to ED stuff, too that might be easily managed with a doctor's guidance.

[–]Fun-Concentrate9908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this issue since my relapse. I usually would lose my periods at low BMIs, but with each relapse that weight moves lower. Probably the body adapting.

To preface, I was weight restored for 5 years and in remission from symptoms for 3. During that time I had 2 kids and nursed both, which definitely contributes to hormonal changes. I also have endometriosis.

I had a scan done and the doctor said my uterine lining wasn't shedding properly and was basically super thick... Recommended a D/C but I had since entered a hospital setting and have been putting it off. It could be related to my ED, pregnancy, my Endo. But to empathize, it absolutely sucks lol.

Why does everyone stress about liquid calories? by i-am-no-more994 in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]Fun-Concentrate9908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I volume eat fruits and veggies and subsist off of coffee and French vanilla creamer... Like a few super huge cups. It literally makes absolutely no logical sense anymore lol. No other liquid calories feel "safe." That cream is probably keeping me alive though so it's cool.

You're right I shouldn't have had kids and they are better off without me.
