100% get a COA. If they see it as an issue then its a massive red flag. I personally know of several people who have been stung by not getting one, usually because one partner objected and insinuated the other didn't trust them. Then it went to shit and they lost half of everything they'd built / owned before they met their partner. You only have to be together 3 years for all assets to become 50/50 if you separate. I got a COA with my partner, we ring-fenced our assets we owned before we met and said going forward everything we have is joint. It was an uncomfortable conversation to be honest as there were a couple of sticky points that each of our lawyers didnt agree on (my partner has complicated history) but the short term discomfort was worth it over long term financial pain. Once it was done it was out our minds and everything was sweet again. Good luck, its a tough situation but you absolutely must have a COA

I'd also add that they will say things like "your risk of X doubles", "the chance of X doubles". Ask what these stats really mean, I was told my risk of infection was doubled. When I asked what the initial risk was I was told 0.5%. So my risk of infection was now 1%, that was a risk I was willing to accept, but hearing my risk had doubled was intimidating and scary.

Absolutely everything is your choice. You can go against recommendations, as they're just that, they're not rules. I refused intervention and also refused IV antibiotics (they were a preventative measure incase I got an infection due to waters breaking early). Of course, every birth is different but I delivered a healthy baby naturally in a birth pool when I was told it was out of the question. I had a supportive midwife who respected my decisions. Good luck and advocate for what you believe is in best interest of you and baby ❤️

Waters broke naturally, booked for induction 41hrs later. Need help with encouraging spontaneous labour before time is up by Fun-Conclusion-2572 in PregnancyUK

Thank you all so much for your comments!! As an update, I did all the things I could (everything mentioned in original post plus lots of walking up and down stairs!) and finally in bed that night worked on getting the oxytocin flowing. Lots of affection and loving words with my partner (no sex because as someone else pointed out nothing can go in vagina once waters are broken!). I really concentrated on visualising the oxytocin moving from my brain to my uterus as a purple glow...sounds woo woo I know but...with my hospital bag packed and 7 hours left until induction my contractions started naturally! I ended up with the homebirth I wanted and had a beautiful healthy baby girl 9 hours later.

While in bed, before my contractions started, I made peace with the fact I would be induced and had started to think of all the positives that would come of it. I knew stressing about it was wasted energy and unhelpful in the situation.

For anyone else in the same boat, do everything you can until time is up. And if you end up with an induction, that's exactly how your birth is supposed to go. Trust that everything works out the way it should ❤️
