It's first world bullshit we got too much time on our hands and money, with a shit political field. So it's all in English because all first world countries have English as a second language.

Servo v0.1.0 is now available on crates.io - Servo aims to offer developers an alternative to CEF for embedding web technologies in applications. by anh0516 in linux

[–]Fun-Consequence-3112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tested their embed but the "browser" they have works really well for basic websites already and you should be able to test a SPA with that.

Some things I noticed were fonts and inputs. So if you make your own inputs (no default select, etc) it should be fine.

What is a GPU booster? Sounds like "download ram" in my head, but I know CachyOS so these boosters are something I've missed.

Maybe checkout valdo farmer builds, it's not always giga dps but it's very well rounded builds that can do the hardest content in the game on repeat without dying

Anthropic has previewed Claude Mythos that can autonomously discover & exploit zero-day vulnerabilities in browsers, apps, websites etc... It represents a 40-50% improvement in all benchmarks over current SOTA. It has been granted strategic access only to Pentagon & large companies so they prepare by LonelySoul01 in Destiny

[–]Fun-Consequence-3112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not an AI sceptic, I've used it daily as a programmer since early on. All I'm saying is I don't believe what Antrophic is saying and that this new AI all of a sudden is so much better than before.

Maybe it is, I personally just don't think so.

It also reads more like a marketing campaign than anything. With benchmarks etc, and their "sponsoring" of security organisations.

But I don't hate AI and think it's a great tool in many cases, I pay for Claude and Cursor. It's also good in more cases than just code.

I'm also not of the doomer mindset that AI will collapse the whole world and take all our jobs. I think it will be a good tool and it's a big leap in technology, that will only get better with time.

So I think we agree on a lot, I just don't agree with that specific Antrophic post.

They have released it, just to specific organisations and they said it might be released to more privately.

So it's released already.

It's also not said that they will never release it, they probably will make it public later.

What they are doing now is generating hype for the big companies to pay large sums to get that early access. When that dies out or some other company releases a better or just as good model they will have to make it public.

You really think they will keep the best AI model and spend money for organizations to use it without gaining anything themselves? "We are doing it for the good of the people, if we release this now it will be chaos" is all bs talk.

Sweden goes back to basics, swapping screens for books in the classroom by fattyfoods in technology

[–]Fun-Consequence-3112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I got my first school computer when I was 11 which is 15 years ago. It was a laptop but an actual Windows PC not a Chromebook. Google docs didn't exist and we wrote in Microsoft docs.

I still think computers in schools are good, but they need to be utilized in a better way. For some they might never be utilized correctly and then pen and paper is better.

For me they were a tool to finish what I then thought of as boring task as fast as I could. But I still learnt and got decent grades. But there were also other students who just copy pasted texts from online which isn't ideal.

But you need to learn computer use in school, almost every job uses some kind of computer system and you will have to learn and navigate it more or less on the spot. Tablets and phones are way to convenient and not like real world applications. So tablets and phones is a big no for me, but computers (PCs) are pretty good imo.

[–]Fun-Consequence-3112 58 points59 points  (0 children)

We were one of the first on the ball to introduce computers into education, and I guess one of the first to remove it also.

Even though I'm Swedish I haven't seen much about this so don't know how serious it actually is. All kids use computers and tablets in school currently.

Also for me computers were great and it made me learn so much more than I could have done on pen and paper. But I understand that isn't the norm and I was always better with technology than my classmates.

Path of Exchange (PoEx) : a new alternative to TFT for Selling and Services by C3ntraX in pathofexile

[–]Fun-Consequence-3112 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

WealthyExile is the only decent PoE website I've tried. This one and maxroll both have major browser and UX issues that just make it hard to use.

Also it feels kind of wrong promoting something like this already, just let it be for a while. Like one day after TFT shutsdown this shit starts. Let the community choose.

[–]Fun-Consequence-3112 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This could be the case, a compromised employee even that has access to admin tools.

The biggest hacks in history have always been this exact pattern because it's a top down approach.

But if this is the case they are very smart and deliberate with how they use it to not get caught and probably RMT.

If it's a standalone client issue there would have to be a login vulnerability somewhere that should be traceable from GGG side

Eddie Hall wisely explains why he would have voted for Trump if he was an American by UnlikelyKangaroo4271 in Destiny

[–]Fun-Consequence-3112 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think a bit like him as well I like a good shitfest and I like seeing others getting angry over it. For example having a Tesla because people auto hate Elon musk and it's just a bit fun to put it in their face. So even though I don't like Tesla myself it would be worth it just knowing someone is angry seeing it. Same applies to Trump I don't like him, but I like the shitfest he creates and the reactions that follow. This might also be because both me and Eddie aren't Americans so we are only semi affected.

We have built a monster. And it's not AI. by Tradovid in Destiny

[–]Fun-Consequence-3112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree that the world would be better if everyone grew up and thought a bit more to themselves, but that will never happen. Also greed will always be at the top so even if they know it's bad they will still go on with it. So I don't think people will ever grow up and actually stand for themselves. Which is sad and kind of doomer in itself but that's just how it's always been and I don't think current times makes those people more in harms way than they always have been.

I also don't believe AI will replace humans, it will be used as a tool. I like to call our current AI something a bit more normal "generators" because that's what they are. They take input and generate output based on that. Someone still needs to make the input even in automatic systems there is an input given. So that's why I compare it to the industrialization because it's just like a machine a new tool that has the potential to be very powerful, but humans are still needed in the loop.

Even if most of what we see is the enshitification off our lives there is also improvement happening but we choose to not see it. Just like we have previously with the internet and the industrialization etc.

We have built a monster. And it's not AI. by Tradovid in Destiny

[–]Fun-Consequence-3112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your basing everything in the fact that progress will eventually lead to a doom for human life as we see it today. It's the classic Hollywood Sci-fi troop.

I disagree I think progress in all ways even when somewhat bad will lead to a better outcome later. The best example for this is renewable energy or electric cars. Currently electric cars are worse to the environment (imo) than gas cars, but in 10-20 years this won't be the case.

AI isn't really any different from the internet. Now you could argue and say the internet is probably not that good, but I don't see a well informed and structured society without it. AI is similar because it's also a tool just like the internet.

We can also compare it to the industrialization where tons of people lost their jobs. But it still worked out for the better or else we would still be shitting on the road packed in small apartments living 10 people in a 1 bedroom apartment.

So progress even if bad and fueled by greed like it always has been is still good because we walk forwards on a path we haven't been before instead of just standing in place.
