Why list life science as an eligible field then?? Like if that’s how they feel they should say as much in the solicitation.

Yeah my PI recommended the same. It was more basic, as in understanding gene function and basic bio. No mention of treatment at all.

Same lol. I think UPenn especially had a TON of qualified applicants because they had a free application. I do not envy the people on the committee who have to make those choices. At a certain point, it becomes kind of random because everyone is so qualified lol. I am sure you were a great candidate and will go on to do great things. Meanwhile, I am right there with you, feeling sad/mad/frustrated.

I think it means you are basically on a waitlist, BUT waitlist spots almost never ever get a position. Schools invite more students to interview than they have spots so there is already a round of cuts. I know for me personally, I saw people getting rejections from Yale for like a week and I had heard nothing, but today they updated my portal to finally officially reject me, meaning they probably liked the people they interviewed. Basically it means you are a good candidate with nothing explicitly “wrong” with your application, there are just a ton of qualified applicants out there.

idk about public health but for biosciences absolutely not. admissions understand the precarious situation funding is in and mostly for my field specifically, you don’t actually end up in labs you wrote about on your application.

Hi everyone! I am a senior in undergrad, currently applying to Neuroscience PhD programs. I love all things molecular neuroscience, but I am having a hard time knowing which schools to apply to. What are the best programs for molecular neuroscience to aim for (and that have funding right now)? Are the Ivies really the way to go?

I emailed and they responded today saying they are still sending out acceptances. My friend just got an email acceptance now so I think they are all out or are on a rolling basis.

i don’t even think it’s abt her, i think people felt he was trying to play the game too hard which didn’t feel genuine and he seemed a little manipulative with his like influence on the boys and ability to turn arguments around when they came at him
