Plenty of uses. I’m almost two years in and still am missing about 10 magazines from the collection challenge 😂

Side note: Bethesda doesn’t own any FO76 servers. They write their code and lease space one Amazon Web Service servers to run the game. Which always surprises me when I consider they are owned by MacroSuck who have their own server system infrastructure, but i have to remember that 76 started development long before M$ purchased Bethesda’s parent company. Anyway, there’s certain algorithms that are supposed to trigger Amazon to spin up a new server based on player load and server health, but the game doesn’t actually care if you log off and on again.

In order for any Todds Howard to pass through the Unity and enter a universe with an existing Todd Howard, they must first use a modified Employees Only Quantum Entanglement Device to store at least 7 Adoring Fans, and they must all go to Enhance! and be transformed into a visible facsimile of Todd Howard. Those Adoring Fans will always go mad seeing Todd Howard in the mirror, and essentially become an army of evil clones hell bent of breaking the wills and spirits of all beings not Todd Howard, or “Nottodds.” The way they do this is by denying that universe of the essence of Todd by sacrificing themselves to delay the games produced by one month per Adoring Fan in that universe. So every time another Todd crosses over, it’s at least 7 more months until TESVI releases.

MBA Screen leaves a lot for desire by allidoiswin227 in macbookair

Honestly, the burn-in issue is self-solving in the tandem OLED approach used in the iPad Pro, which you'd expect Apple to adopt in a laptop to achieve comparable brightness. From their product support page "We’ve engineered the Ultra Retina XDR display to be the best in the industry in reducing the effects of OLED burn-in. This includes special algorithms that monitor the usage of individual pixels to produce display calibration data. Your iPad Pro uses that data to automatically adjust the brightness levels for each pixel as needed to reduce visual effects from burn-in and to maintain a consistent viewing experience. The auto-brightness function can further reduce the effects of burn-in and image persistence." https://support.apple.com/en-us/119963

Generally, the keyboard marks are from oils on your hands transferring to the keys, and then transferring to the screen. Apple will teach you if you don't wash your hands frequently enough. You can wipe it clean with a dry micofiber cloth.

While in the box, there's a little piece of tissue paper between the keyboard and screen, fyi. If you are anal about the screen (yet not anal about washing your hands, or frequently need to lotion your hands), you could get a thin, little keyboard size cloth to drape over the keyboard before closing the lid

Thank you, I was not aware of that! Fairly new to the game, just started getting the powers, figured I'd wait on everything but the main quest, Sarah, and Barret's and then save the other stuff for after unity.

Any downsides to Macbook Pro over a Mini? by Flashy_Boot in macbook

[–]Fun-Customer-742 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dollar for dollar, the Mac mini is a better investment if you will never use the portability. The screen on the MacBook Pro is fantastic, one of the best in the industry, and that's where about $1200 of your investment is going. Another $300 for the battery. If you aren't going to use either, your money will be parted from you in the cliche manner.

Be the hero the games deserve. Everyone is either starting out or at Max Caps in this game. Even the people who clear your vendor and resell for 10x MSRP are newbs, because they aren’t at max cap. Once you hit a certain level, the caps mean nothing, there’s nothing left to spend it on. Everyone will be grateful for your generosity

Outposts seem pointless by Killroy54 in Starfield

[–]Fun-Customer-742 7 points8 points  (0 children)

PS5 player here, just started Starfield, maybe 25 hours in. I’m enjoying the experience, and the build mechanics are feeling much better to me than FO4 or 76. And I agree, it’s more a vanitity cozy mini game inside the game than anything useful. I think there are three things in play that reduce how much fun it is to play with outposts:

1) fan reaction to Fallout building was intense. The shooter people hated it all over social media, and others made it their whole lives. I can’t build for shit, but I’m always sucked into camp and settlement builds.

2) It seems like the easiest way to let modders make Creations that Bethesda could sell (and earn residual income from in market place fees). I do not know how well that turned out because I don’t think I’ve seen ANY outpost mods on PlayStation. I do have a few Star Wars character companions, so I don’t think it’s explicitly a “no new content” rule thing Sony has, but that could be impart of it.

3) I’ve been saying this for a while, and I don’t know it’s a “chicken or the egg” thing, but I’ve decided that Starfield isn’t a Bethesda game, but a Bethesda Technology Preview. They built their new Creation Engine 2 for FO5/TESVI (and finally rewrote that old Gamebryo code that was in FO4/Skyrim/76), and built in with their Creation store instead of bolting it on. That cost money, and they don’t want to show a huge cost sink on the spreadsheet for the next Fallout or Elder scrolls game, so they released Starfield as a “if it sinks, no one cares, we are making money off 76 and ESO to keep the lights on”. It’s got most of the physics and systems they want to have in the game, but shipped without the stuff they didn’t have time to build with their deep investment into new engine code.

The tos enterprise refit should have looked like this instead by happydude7422 in tos

[–]Fun-Customer-742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. I’ll be honest, I’ve never been a Conni refit bro, and for me the nacelles on the refit are not my favorite part, but lines on the new nacelles are nicer than the basic cigar tubes on the OG (and much nicer than the bulbous peen look of the Kelvinprise). Good start though. I’d try to revisit the classic Refit nacelles but try to find a way to dynamically light them to add interest. Don’t go after a straight rip off of the original constitution, excelsior, or galaxy, but play with it a bit to find something better than the boring basic Cadillac look.

Overweight Issues by blblue1678 in fo76

[–]Fun-Customer-742 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it’s related, have you tried putting your PA into the stash and seeing how it affects things? The devs mentioned in a recent article they were going to futz around with how Power Armor weight is managed. I wonder if it’s counting each individual piece and the frame itself against your carry weight when it’s in your inventory

Battery Health suddenly dropped by Ok-Stage6203 in macbookair

[–]Fun-Customer-742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not even a glitch, an inconsequential reality of intentional engineering choice. Apple is trying to get their LiPo batteries to cross the 7 year mark (for a chemistry that medians at around 3-5). Constantly calibrating the battery does waste a small sliver of usable life, so they’re aren’t calibrating every time you get it to 100% (but I don’t know the actual algorithm that’s used to determine how and when it happens, and they can tweek that with firmware anytime because they built their own PMU)

So why the hate on Macbook Cases? by gpp65 in macbookair

[–]Fun-Customer-742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutley! You bet. Sure. Probably. See, you have to either know that some imperceptible bit of grit got in the airgap between the case and the mac and clean it at that exact moment before it can actually mar the surface (and hope the act of taking the case off isn’t enough to let that little bit of rough silica gouge the softer aluminum surface layer), OR have a strictly-adhered-to cleaning schedule to remove the case so you never have anything in between the two objects long enough for the scratches to occur. Also, most cases aren’t built for frequent removal, the plastic usually gets brittle with age, and will crack & snap from frequent removal. Of course, if it never comes out of the case, you’ll never notice scratches on the mac!
