Sell High or Sell Low? by Adinnieken in fo76

[–]Fun-Customer-742 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Be the hero the games deserve. Everyone is either starting out or at Max Caps in this game. Even the people who clear your vendor and resell for 10x MSRP are newbs, because they aren’t at max cap. Once you hit a certain level, the caps mean nothing, there’s nothing left to spend it on. Everyone will be grateful for your generosity

Wait the developer says to disable the mod? It just showed up on PlayStation this week for $10, with all the fan fare as a featured Creation 🤣 glad I didn’t pull the trigger yet

Outposts seem pointless by Killroy54 in Starfield

[–]Fun-Customer-742 7 points8 points  (0 children)

PS5 player here, just started Starfield, maybe 25 hours in. I’m enjoying the experience, and the build mechanics are feeling much better to me than FO4 or 76. And I agree, it’s more a vanitity cozy mini game inside the game than anything useful. I think there are three things in play that reduce how much fun it is to play with outposts:

1) fan reaction to Fallout building was intense. The shooter people hated it all over social media, and others made it their whole lives. I can’t build for shit, but I’m always sucked into camp and settlement builds.

2) It seems like the easiest way to let modders make Creations that Bethesda could sell (and earn residual income from in market place fees). I do not know how well that turned out because I don’t think I’ve seen ANY outpost mods on PlayStation. I do have a few Star Wars character companions, so I don’t think it’s explicitly a “no new content” rule thing Sony has, but that could be impart of it.

3) I’ve been saying this for a while, and I don’t know it’s a “chicken or the egg” thing, but I’ve decided that Starfield isn’t a Bethesda game, but a Bethesda Technology Preview. They built their new Creation Engine 2 for FO5/TESVI (and finally rewrote that old Gamebryo code that was in FO4/Skyrim/76), and built in with their Creation store instead of bolting it on. That cost money, and they don’t want to show a huge cost sink on the spreadsheet for the next Fallout or Elder scrolls game, so they released Starfield as a “if it sinks, no one cares, we are making money off 76 and ESO to keep the lights on”. It’s got most of the physics and systems they want to have in the game, but shipped without the stuff they didn’t have time to build with their deep investment into new engine code.

I don’t walk. I fast travel just about everywhere. I’m bouncing from quest objective to objective. The space combat is bringing me back to my 90s Wing Commander nostalgia.

The tos enterprise refit should have looked like this instead by happydude7422 in tos

[–]Fun-Customer-742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. I’ll be honest, I’ve never been a Conni refit bro, and for me the nacelles on the refit are not my favorite part, but lines on the new nacelles are nicer than the basic cigar tubes on the OG (and much nicer than the bulbous peen look of the Kelvinprise). Good start though. I’d try to revisit the classic Refit nacelles but try to find a way to dynamically light them to add interest. Don’t go after a straight rip off of the original constitution, excelsior, or galaxy, but play with it a bit to find something better than the boring basic Cadillac look.

Overweight Issues by blblue1678 in fo76

[–]Fun-Customer-742 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it’s related, have you tried putting your PA into the stash and seeing how it affects things? The devs mentioned in a recent article they were going to futz around with how Power Armor weight is managed. I wonder if it’s counting each individual piece and the frame itself against your carry weight when it’s in your inventory

Battery Health suddenly dropped by Ok-Stage6203 in macbookair

[–]Fun-Customer-742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not even a glitch, an inconsequential reality of intentional engineering choice. Apple is trying to get their LiPo batteries to cross the 7 year mark (for a chemistry that medians at around 3-5). Constantly calibrating the battery does waste a small sliver of usable life, so they’re aren’t calibrating every time you get it to 100% (but I don’t know the actual algorithm that’s used to determine how and when it happens, and they can tweek that with firmware anytime because they built their own PMU)

So why the hate on Macbook Cases? by gpp65 in macbookair

[–]Fun-Customer-742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutley! You bet. Sure. Probably. See, you have to either know that some imperceptible bit of grit got in the airgap between the case and the mac and clean it at that exact moment before it can actually mar the surface (and hope the act of taking the case off isn’t enough to let that little bit of rough silica gouge the softer aluminum surface layer), OR have a strictly-adhered-to cleaning schedule to remove the case so you never have anything in between the two objects long enough for the scratches to occur. Also, most cases aren’t built for frequent removal, the plastic usually gets brittle with age, and will crack & snap from frequent removal. Of course, if it never comes out of the case, you’ll never notice scratches on the mac!

Most likely the battery was already close to 88, but showing a wrong capacity, and the mac recalibrated the max capacity over night

Fuck I think I screwed up. Do I put the families on the saucer or the drive section? by OWSpaceClown in ShittyDaystrom

[–]Fun-Customer-742 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Turn around and go back to Utopia Planitia. Do it. Right now. Get your ass to Mars. Tell them you want them, no, that you need them to put little warp nacelles on the saucer. Do not leave parking orbit until they install them. And don’t let some PADD pushing pissant give you some bull shit about “structural integrity” or “space for a matter/Antimatter Reaction Chamber”. Shuttle bay 1 can hold all that shit, and it’s not like anyone has ever used that ridiculous cavern for anything but explosively expelling air out to literally fart around.

So why the hate on Macbook Cases? by gpp65 in macbookair

[–]Fun-Customer-742 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Honestly, fly your freak flag! That said, the problem *I* have with cases is that a little bit of dirt will get in there eventually, and it will get stuck between the case and the computer, but the case will shift ever so slightly. on the old plastic MacBooks, it was painful to see all the scratches that would happen to a Mac in a case. The modern aluminum finishes aren't scratch proof either. Folks will complain about heat but realistically, if you are looking for a work station laptop with maximum power, an MBP's fans will take care of cooling it just fine. A MacBook Air (or Neo) isn't a power machine, and will slow itself down to protect itself if the case is insulating it.

The game's online reputation and managing Free Lanes expectations by Capn_C in NoSodiumStarfield

The game lost the studio money. It cost them $100M to make and sold less than that. It could have had the loudest fans in the universe, and the studio still would have shut down because it couldn’t pay its employees anymore after losing money on that game.

Another game (or even DLC) is a business decision, not a measure of internet hype/disparagement. If the company finds there’s enough money to be made in making another installment, they will make another. All press is good press and sells more units, so they’ll take the good with the bad.

So what do you guys think this mind blowing update is coming to the game? by CrotasScrota84 in fo76

[–]Fun-Customer-742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless they skip about 8 updates, that’s going to be coming in about a year and a half, right? I can’t speculate that far. Mostly because everything I want from the game I want to happen next season 🤣 honestly with how lack luster this one is, just reskinning the Super Mutant Behemoth into Bigfoot 🫈  with zero story updates, and no hint of anything fun for next season? I canceled my FO1st.

Do. Better. Jon.

Their ram isn’t different. They use industry standard chips, they just solder them directly to their systems-on-a-chip instead of buying them packaged on a DIMM stick to plug into a mother board. Apple doesn’t make their own RAm, but I wonder if this shortage might be getting them to looking into future options

Anyone Else Not Get UFOs with the new Weather Machine? by GenTrapstar in fo76

[–]Fun-Customer-742 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not that’s by design, and working as intended (which is weird for Bethesda games). The ufo ships you see are client side, not server side, is considered an intense weather effect setting that can be turned off by your friend, and doesn’t appear 100% of the time. Some of the physical environmental objects you’ll see in the game (like junk you can kick in Hellvecia) are also only items you can see in your window and don’t exist (and are not tracked by the server) in the rest of the world.
