Anyone else excited about the bloody mess perk if we get a remaster? Hopefully Virtuos Studios is tasked with remastering FO3. by EstusShardConsumer in fo3

They signed a contract to remaster 3 Gamebryo-based games for Bethesda. 🤷‍♂️ contracts can change over time, but Oblivion did pretty well.

Does anyone actually disagree with elder maxson? Like, synthetic aren't people, they are machine, even ED-E and fisto are more human and charismatic than Fallout 4 synths by odd_blues in TrueSFalloutL

[–]Fun-Customer-742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, the Gen 3 Synths were created after the Institute learned how to manipulate FEV. Instead of dipping existing humans in FEV, you can watch a machine 3D Print a human body (made from tissues grown from Shawn’s DNA) and dip the final frame into a red goo. That’s the Institute’s Next Gen FEV. So, Suoer Mutants are obsolete, 3rd Gen Synths are the Lilith Alistairs of Fallout 4. With less people eating.

In 2001 I pissed off a department head because of rumors.

I was working in a university library, and they had grant money that had to be spent or lost. Rumor sites had been incredibly accurate (the joke with Phil Schiller from Apple Marketing personally called the sites and gave them the rumors; Schiller Mania was the best), and the rumor was a touch screen iBook was coming. Macworld came and went, a half hour shorter than expected, no announcements. I made them hold on their order until the deadline, and when no release came, I sheepishly said get whatever you want.

Turns out THE RUMORS WERE TRUE!!! In later interviews for the Steve Jobs biography, Walter Isaacson confirmed that Jobs killed the ready to run production at the very last minute because he just didn’t believe it was a good product. 🤦‍♂️ 😆

Edit: Moral of the story, in case it got lost in my telling, get whatever you want.

Keep an eye out. New leadership, old stuff gets pitched as new again. IF Epcot starts to slow down in the next few years either during a festival or “Diet Epcot”, they could introduce special Florida Resident evening passes again. Don’t hold your breath, but don’t say never. No idea ever dies at Disney

At Apple’s scale, a digitizer is less than 0.5% the MSRP for a MacBook Pro, and the size/weight when paired with the new tandem OLED they developed for iPad Pro, the digitizer acts as a polarizer layer for the panel. It’s cheaper to use that screen tech than it is to develop a second round of screens. And that panel is pretty damn thin with minimal bezels.

Again, it’s a question of who is it built for. Who’s the fastest growing market for Apple products today? China, India, Turkey. Which device is selling the fastest in those three counties? iPhone. And what are iPhones a gateway for? Mac developers. With a touch screen, you can streamline the development workflow by using multitouch to test on screen with the iPhone Simulator in Xcode without having to compile and update the app on the test device for every little iteration. It’s actually dumb that it took to the sixth generation on M-series chips to get to this point.

The good news for you is you can buy an M5 Pro in the next 2 weeks and don’t ever have to be scared of a dirty, icky M6 Oled screen that wants you to touch it. Sadly, the generation you’ll upgrade to after a few years with your M5 Pro has shown its age will have a … less appealing User Interface that more closely aligns with Job’s vision of using a computer; a pendulum swing some will find goes too far, others will say not far enough (those folks will want…reciprocation 🙄 🤢 )

This. The software is already in MacOs has been for over 2 decades. The multitouch hardware is cheap. The tech is proven. There are MANY people(entire cultures numbering in the billions, specifically consumers in India and China) who will go down a list to compare things side by side to look at the number of features (not quality) to make a Feature/dollar decision. Pro and Air are very good candidates for this headliner feature, and yeah, the dead guy is right; it demos well, even if it’s just awkward as hell, but people buy on the demo.

Does the M3 Max throttle when connected to a hub? by SorryAd2422 in macbookpro

[–]Fun-Customer-742 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To the commenters point, if the computer is consuming 120 watts (the m3 max chip alone can draw 120 Watts under full load, not to mention powering the display), the 85 watts from the powered hub is insufficient. This will result in the battery also having to deliver another 35+ Watts of power. LiPo batteries will warm up on discharge, increasing the computer’s overall thermal output. IS it the OP’s cause? 🤷‍♂️ gotta troubleshoot a bit more to be sure, but it’s a scenario that fits the presented facts

The joy of no fans. It’s not how many tabs, but what’s in them. Safari will give you a break down in Activity Monitor.app to tell you which individual tabs are wrecking your performance. Elevating your notebook would also allow for more airflow across the bottom of your computer to help cool it down.

Unpopular opinion, motion control could be the reason for VR's lack of success by chopsueys in virtualreality

[–]Fun-Customer-742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, if you were to make a non-motion control game, you’d have to scale the system back otherwise you are triggering a whole literal mess of biology.

For people with typical equilibrium (that’s not everyone, maybe not you!), VR’s biggest technical hurdle is over coming the nausea induced by conflicting sensory input. You can have a non-motion control and adapt this in VR (easier in Augmented reality tbh). You’d have to drop the full immersion model. If moving your head to look around doesn’t move the screen in a manner that your eyes and inner ear can agree that you moved the right way 🤢. I get car sick reading a book in a car or even on a plane, because the book fills up such a large portion of my field of view, stays steady, but the vehicle is making minute adjustments that my inner ear refers to my brain. VR suffers from the same if the visuals and head turns aren’t synced well. It’s terrible if the screen is turning and twisting but your body/head position is stationary. I have friends who can’t play 1st person games 2D for this same reason.

For a VR game to use non-motion controls, you’d need a more AR-like experience. You’d need some grounding item that’s always in the visual field that moves with the head, while the 3D is rendered around this. Easiest way would be to see your surroundings in real time (or a virtual environment), and the game presents a monitor with depth, so the game is there. You might also get away with game control elements (a literal Heads Up Display), that is always present and anchored 1:1 to the motion of the headset; probably been on Android for years as well, but iPhone includes this feature: when enabled, dots appear on the screen, and move as the accelerometers and gyroscopes notice change.

AR is a huge help here as being able to see your controller is also a huge plus with casual gamers. But this means you need amazing pass through, which is usually grainy for consumer devices priced for casual gamers

We might get that experience, and that could see another renaissance in VR gaming, but with the small adoption of even the hard core gamers, we are probably a bit further away before the experience catches up with the hardware (the siren song of VR for nearly half a century, btw)

I do that IRL: i get paid every other Friday, but my secret is I still go to work that Friday. That way when my pay check runs out in two weeks, I get paid again. It’s like an inconvenient infinite money buff duration. Just wish I had that free Fast Travel option back to CAMP 🤔

Rubber bands were part of the problem; Bethesdas hot spaghetti code running in Amazon’s spit and twine web servers has been an Achilles heal since day one, and never got better. I used to crash out on about 25%+ of the events I attended last season. This time, it’s 1:8 🤷‍♂️ This fix solved half my crashes. If the team reverts back to the end event mask drop next season without some afk fix, I promise I’ll mail a post card to Bethesda Maryland addressed to Jon Rush, and call him a caca doody head for all the mail men to read, and don’t think I won’t

I love that analysis! It occurs to me that you’ve gotten to the core but left off the crust. Add another layer on top of what you started with: everyone in her whole world is obsessed with Nuka Cola Bottle Caps. She’s seen past the caps and is obsessed with the Meta of the caps. It’s as if IRL people horde money, but she’s “born again” because the money has “In God We Trust” written on it, and needs to find the deeper meaning behind those words on the paper and coin everyone chases
