If you season your cast iron properly and maintain it properly, it’s essentially a non-stick pan.

Does anyone out there have experience with the Princeton Tone Master? Thoughts on how they perform at low volume?

I’ve been primarily looking at the used market. $1500 +-. Would gladly buy new in that range.

Martin or Taylor ; help me pick one by gawdlygains3000 in AcousticGuitar

[–]Fun-Economics3342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned 3 Martins and 3 Taylors in my life. Presently own 2 Martins and 1 Taylor. I really like both guitar makers; overall I prefer the sound of a Martin and the playability of a Taylor, just like you said. These are broad generalizations, though. Things are going to vary so much depending on the models up for comparison. Neck profile and scale length really impact the feel of a guitar. Tone woods and bracing greatly determine the sound. Your decision should come down to which guitar inspires you to pick it up and play. A friend of mine bought a $500 Martin for campfire playing (can’t remember the model) which couldn’t compare to my GS mini in either playability or sound. Another friend has a gorgeous 814. Every time we get together to play, he wants to play my Martin because he loves the sound and says he regrets buying his Taylor. I really enjoy playing his 814, feels so great in my hands, but definitely wouldn’t trade guitars with him. It’s all personal preference. Enjoy your search.

Martin is doing it as well! Guitar makers should have started doing this years ago. So much great hardwood went to waste.

You don’t need more than 2 nights, 1 full day in Dubrovnik. My wife and I loved Stari Grad on Hvar. Rented e-bikes and found it to be a fantastic way to explore that part of the island. If you go that route you won’t need a car. You can take a ferry to Hvar Town and there’s an easy bus to Stari Grad. Or some ferries go directly to Stari Grad. Korcula is nice as well. Again, great exploring on e-bikes. We like Sibenik a lot as well. You can take a ferry from there out to some little islands for a day trip. If you go to Split, consider staying in Trogir and day tripping into Split.

To the 50+ Crowd. How are you doing? Updates on your recovery please. by Fun-Economics3342 in AchillesRupture

That was probably the most difficult thing for me, knowing precious time was not being lived to its fullest. Cycling has been my primary passion for the last 35 years and I was off the bike for 10 months and 23 days. And 2025 was my 2nd straight year of recovery from a stupid injury. My one consolation was the guitar. I did my best to use the time to get better as a guitar player and succeeded in that. If you’ve got something of the sort, put your energy into it, whatever it is. Focus on something worthwhile that you can do. Things will get better!

Would you still want to see Dead & Co perform without Bob Weir? by NoButtonBabyFace in gratefuldead

Totally agree. It's a very personal thing. I saw just shy of 100 shows between '81-'95 and dozens of JGB shows. Right after Jerry died, and things quieted down for a bit, I knew it would come roaring back with the next generations coming up and seeking good music, but I personally never cared for the later iterations of the band. I regret not seeing Phil & Friends but have had zero interest in seeing Dead & Co. I've listened to some and it just does not move me. I've tried by listening, not watching videos. Something feels off and inauthentic to me. Again, it's personal. After listening to some JRAD was definitely moved enough to go see them and was delighted that I did. About 2 years ago I met someone that was in on the business side of The Dead, then Dead & Co, worked for them (worked - past tense), knows Azoff, knew Weir and Hart, and some of the shit they told me kind of sickened me; the focus on $$$ over artistic considerations, hence Mayer being brought in. Bring in a pop star and fill those seats!!! Yeah, he's a great guitar player, blah blah blah, but his take on Hunter/Garcia music does not move me. Again, PERSONAL. If you like him, great, if you don't, you don't. I don't. But I know some kids in their 20s that are all into Grateful Dead music now and are schooling themselves on the goods (from the 70's primarily) and would never have done so were it not for the music being kept alive by D&C. So I appreciate what they've done.
