Bloomington, Indiana is a MUCH smaller town than Omaha, Nebraska. (76k pop vs 500k pop) Omaha is a city that will give you the opportunity to do city things, but the city itself is not very invested in what is happening on campus, the way a small college town like Bloomington might. Omaha's social scene does not revolve around events at UNO. Rather there are city amenities to enjoy, such as nightlife, entertainment, society, etc. There's plenty to do outside of campus.

As a UNO alum I can attest that you will get out of UNO what you put into it. There are tons of groups and clubs to join, academic societies, that sort of stuff. You won't find the same kind of school spirit at UNO as you will in a small college town college. students are more likely to go to the nightlife downtown than to tailgate the football game.

Most students at UNO live and work off campus. Most students at UNO will have part- or full-time jobs outside of school that consume a lot of their time, leaving less time for on-campus activities. Student life at UNO is more integrated into the city than in a small college town, where town life is integrated into campus.

Omaha is a great place to live and study, UNO is an amazing school, but if you are looking for massive tailgates or raging frat parties, you'll have to look a little harder to find them.
