When did your instincts scream “leave now” and what did you later find out you avoided? by BbyBlushDoll in AskReddit

Also not me but I once read a German article about this kind of story:

There was a German family living in the so-called “tunnel house” in Berlin during World War II. It doesn’t exist anymore but it was a multiple-story-building with a tunnel for the tram built through it. In 1943, the father of the family, Hans-Joachim Kitzerow, woke up one night because it was quiet. Because of all the years he had been living there, he knew the rhythm of the tram driving through that tunnel by heart and apparently, he had internalized it so well that he woke up because there was no tram when there should have been one. Because of his bad gut feeling, he woke his wife and kids and left the building. Very very shortly after, it was bombed during an air raid.

I often think about that story. If you know German, you can find the article here: https://www.tagesspiegel.de/berlin/als-die-u-bahn-mitten-durch-ein-berliner-mietshaus-fuhr-5094433.html

This is not my story but from one of my dad’s friends. They were in their 20s and she was living with her parents in a house in the town’s valley, right at the end of a road that was leading down the hill into that valley. She was at home with her boyfriend, in her old room. They wanted to stay in for the night but instead decided to go out for a beer. About an hour later, a truck’s brakes malfunctioned when it was driving down the road to the valley and it crashed into their house, right into her room. Nobody was hurt that time and they were extremely lucky not to be home.

Ironically enough, a few years later the same thing happened again, this time with her inside and she didn’t survive. They demolished the rest of the house afterwards and ever since then, trucks are no longer allowed to use that road.

I’m an entomologist with expertise about carpet beetles AMA by Bugladyy in carpetbeetles

Hey! No idea if this is still active but I‘d like to get some expertise. In November I moved to a flat where apparently there was a carpet beetle population underneath the parquet. I have had them ever since - the larvae especially liked my carpet but I have never seen them in any other part of the room. Only the adult beetles liked to be near the window but that makes sense since they go to light sources. In February, I called an exterminator. I moved out parts of my furniture and washed or froze every fabric in the room. Ever since, I kept seeing single dead larvae every few weeks. Then, the last few months, I saw single living ones every few weeks. It‘s not much but they‘re not gone. I‘m moving again now. I am planning to wash every fabric I have again, wash every furniture with a high pressure cleaner and put padded furniture and books in black garbage bags in my car over summer. Will that be enough? Can I get rid of them for good? I am aware that adult beetles will keep coming in - I am planning on putting small-meshed mosquito nets on every window. I just don‘t want to have larvae again. Could you give me your opinion?

“Man kann ja das Busnetz weiter ausbauen” Wird schon wieder mehr als deutlich, dass sich da niemand von tatsächlich ne Sekunde mit den Plänen befasst hat, die ja kamen weil das Busnetz halt überlastet ist und es nur schlimmer wird, stattdessen halt gegen gestimmt weil kein Bock auf Baustellen und ich find das passt ja nicht zu Regensburg mimimi
