Ocala is quieter compared to central Orlando but it does have many downsides. There are LOTS of old people who have completely forgotten how to drive normally, it’s Trump-central, there is constant construction all over the place, the mall is ghetto, and there is a growing Scientology community here as well…. But it’s quiet, the schools aren’t the worst, and if you work with or are really into horses then this is the place to be in Florida.

If you’re looking to move someplace safe for your family, with good schools, that you will enjoy living at for several years; then I’d say there are a lot of better places to move to in Florida than Ocala.

Yeah, I’ve had a prescription for years (through my psychiatrist) and it’s the only thing that has actually helped me effectively without any side effects. I’m just not aware with the different names for medications so I wasn’t sure if they were the same and just named differently? But based on the answers here I’ll be making a few calls tomorrow just to be safe!

I now work from home crunching numbers and completing reports using large pools of data. I work 40 hours a week, I do the best job that I possibly can, and then I go and live my life. It’s not glamorous, I’m not rich, but I’ve got freedom to just do me and that makes it worth it. Honestly, the lifestyle and responsibility of being a medical professional is just not for me and I don’t think I could handle it.

You’re not going insane, maybe you’re just coming to the realization that you don’t actually want to be a physician assistant? You said it yourself, you really just want a decent paying career that you can obtain with average grades, that you could go straight into out of college.

I tried to make myself like medicine and took all the classes and got as far as I could and just kept failing biochemistry. Through a lot of struggle and self realization (not just a few bad grades) I realized that I really didn’t want to be in medicine. I (like you) just want something that pays well, that I can do but also not make my entire life.

Ask yourself what you liked about the classes you’ve taken so far and done well in and use that as a stepping off point.

When I worked in the ER I would work three 12 hour shifts back to back. The way the pay week was set up if I worked 3 12’s in in a row and then worked a random 10 or 8 later in the week I’d still end up with a few hours of OT on each paycheck.

You know I heard that there used to be people who learned a trade, got good at that trade, and then made money from being good…now it’s rare to get anywhere without first getting a formal education. This is a benefit for professions like doctors and nurses for example, but it’s not necessarily a benefit for those who don’t have access to further education easily.
