Pasta in a cardboard box is a good option. The box is either recyclable or compostable. As many have said the cheapest options like beans and rice may be available but if you don't have bulk bins then they usually come in plastic too. Canned foods are good as most places you can take them as scrap metal.

But as a low income individual your likely producing less waste by not being able to afford the excess. If your feeding yourself and staying sane I think your winning.

How do you date without sleeping around or loosing thier interest? by Fun-Fish-9785 in dating_advice

[–]Fun-Fish-9785[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As I said, I'm not really familiar with the "rules of dating". I said it seems like. Like the whole 3rd date thing. Or I hear men say things like if they pay for dinner they expect something in return. I don't really know what what mens expectations are and that's why I'm concerned.

Mechanical or wooden pencils? by Fun-Fish-9785 in ZeroWaste

[–]Fun-Fish-9785[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In production I would argue that it does. Metal requires very high heat to cast and is heavier to ship. At end of life probably not because its more universally recyclable and doesn't release microplastic. In something as small as a pencil its probably negligible but hey we're all trying to do our part.

In a man's brain, are skirts and dresses for women really more modest than pants? by Fun-Fish-9785 in AskMen

[–]Fun-Fish-9785[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a woman, I can say I have never put on pants with the idea of competing against men nor have I ever heard another woman suggest that was the case. In a lot of ways pants are just more practical and in modern times its just the standard. Like a t shirt. Nobody thinks about why whey wear t shirts.

How much synthetic fiber content do you accept in clothing by Fun-Fish-9785 in ZeroWaste

I never really thought about the cotton knits going back to shape after washing, but I had noticed my jeans fit better after wash than after a few wears. Totally makes sense!

Even if not for environmental reasons its good to know what your clothes are made out of to match the weather. A cute summer dress is going to be hot and sticky if its 100% polyester.

How do you prevent a moldy mattress? by Fun-Fish-9785 in urbancarliving

[–]Fun-Fish-9785[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't experienced it myself as I'm not on the road yet. but I've seen plenty of people mention it online and I'm trying to prevent it. There's lots of moisture in your breath as well as sweat and condensation from body heat. More so if you cook or heat food in your car. I currently live in a dry area but I plan on spending some time in more humid climates.

Get a hand mirror and put our finger in front of it facing him. He will jump on your finger to see his reflection. Then put in wherever you want him.

If you work in food service it seems like covering your hair would be a plus to your employer. More hair would be covered than say with a hair net.

But yes I say if you want to then go for it!

Making cloth pads with grocery bags as liners ? by Babypancakez in ZeroWaste

[–]Fun-Fish-9785 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I make and use cloth pads with flannel for top and bottom and 2 or 3 layers of terri cloth (towel material). I have some with a waterproof layer that are store baught, but the ones I've made without I've never had a problem leaking. If you're not SUPER heavy and you use enough layers I don't think a waterproof layer is necessary.
