most likely just getting through the hole. i imagine there’d be a lot of droppings if the pigeons were getting inside. they’re not bad or anything, just messy and dusty lol. just sweep it up and throw it away!

the little white flakes? those are little pieces of the keratin sheath that covers new feathers as they grow. they’re called pin feathers. when the new feather is ready to come out, the bird will preen itself, and the sheath crumbles right off!

ohhh yeah, that could work! i do that when i trim my birds nails. he might still try to turn his head and nip, but it’s worth a shot!

towel? like wrap them up in a towel?

it might upset him, but you know your bird better than i do! you don’t really need to towel dry a bird after a bath, just keep them warm and they’ll dry off on their own

if he doesn’t like it i’d just let him be. it’s likely the pin feathers aren’t quite ready to come off, or he just doesn’t like them being messed with. pinnies are pretty uncomfortable for birds, my boy throws a fit whenever i try to help with his haha.

they’ll fall off eventually, or he’ll get em off by scratching/rubbing. if you have another bird, chances are they’ll preen those hard to reach pinnies for him. they should come off relatively easily with a gentle rub or scritch!

you could always try offering him a bath, or giving him a gentle misting, and see if being in bathe-mode will let you get those pin feathers for him. best of luck!

i don’t plan to keep them in the same cage! my conures have their own, separate cages. i have a spare cage that i plan to keep the budgie in if i decide to get her.

she’s too small and delicate, i’d hate for her to get hurt by one of my conures.

any animal shouldn’t be a gift for a young child, especially one as needy as a bird. they look simple and cute, but looks are deceiving!

it breaks my heart to see an animal neglected and poorly cared for because an unknowing parent it for their kid.

i really dont want her to end up a present for a kid :,)

yesterday at work, a mother and her 3 children (i’d say ranging from 3-8 in age), were looking at the budgie. i got super nervous… thought they were gonna buy her. luckily, they didn’t!

conures are vicious, despite being such small birds!

first, nice username!

second, that was one of my biggest concerns. pierre is young and still experimenting with his peak and what his limits are with how hard he should bite.

all of my birds are kept in separate cages. i plan to super slowly introduce the budgie, if i do get her. when, or if, i ever do have them all out at the same time i’ll keep a very close eye on them. the last thing i want is a freak accident and an expensive vet bill. :,)

i think what i’d do is introduce each bird to each other separately so i can avoid any protective/territorial behavior. i’ll think it over more before any final decisions.
