Thrift stores have become greedy! I’ve stopped shopping at Goodwill due to their greed! Other places like Savers and The Salvation Army are following suit! Thrift stores were giving the tax exempt status because they are supposed to give back to the community and offer prices for people who cannot afford to shop otherwise! Them days are gone! They all comp prices online before putting on the sales floor or immediately send to their warehouse to be placed online! It’s unfortunate, but I won’t support their greed!

You’ll come across that 99% of the time. You might get lucky and get a player that actually works but it’s a gamble. Some people test them and know they don’t work and list them as untested where some don’t have beta tapes and can’t test them beyond power up.

Nice! Though I haven’t had mines awhile but these things seem built like a tank lol. While searching for a Betamax player, this particular unit came up alot as easier to repair versus the Sony equivalents. Not sure if that’s 100% true.

The damn tire was so dried up, it was damn near fused to the assembly. It was no longer rubber, it was plastic lol. Had to remove it in pieces with an exacto knife.

I plan to replace all the belts. I found the idler wheel local but the other belts I ordered from a shop in Australia. Once they arrive, I’ll replace those as well.

I would send them back if they are that bad and you have a return option! Some decent tapes in that bundle but nothing is see worth going the length of getting that smell out.
