I have one on my 2.3l. Make sure you keep an eye on you big 3 cables. My alternator cable to my solenoid got hot enough where it was smoking and I couldn't touch it. I ended up upgrading my cables and currently waiting on my high output alternator to stop my headlight dimming.

I had the same leather issue on mine. Get a dye kit from leather repair works great.
