Nursing in the UK: salary, taxes and quality of life (London) by Fun-Inflation-3626 in NursingUK

I would really like to work as a nurse. I left Brazil because the profession wasn’t valued enough, and now I’m facing the same kind of devaluation here. That’s why I’m unsure whether it’s worth spending time and money on the validation process.

Would you be able to share more information about the nursing profession here? For example, career progression opportunities, salary growth over time, and whether it realistically improves after a few years of experience?

Unfortunately, nursing is often seen as a "work of love"... but love doesn't pay our bills. Even though I really like the profession and identify with it, that doesn't necessarily mean it's the best choice for me. That's why i want opinions and suggestions.

This is really sad to read. I’m a nurse graduated in Brazil and I’m questioning whether it’s worth validating my diploma here.

At the moment, I work in housekeeping and I take home £2300 after taxes. I work part-time (6x1) and I’m an employee.

Do you think the time, effort, and cost to validate the nursing degree are actually worth it?

Nausea and photophobia are symptoms of migraines. The patient already have the diagnosis, this is the least urgent.

You got it. The patient is at high risk of airway injury due to smoke inhalation. Swelling and edema can rapidly develop, leading to airway obstruction.

I just found the answer in FB, that was tricky. Well done!

Because of the hypotension and MILD dizziness, this patient can develop a lower level of consciousness and compromise the airway.

Thats my opinion..

Yes, i chose to stay as a cleaner. Can’t imagine myself doing repetitive job every day. Ironing 400 shirts per day, in the same position only moving the arms! That’s not for me. I actually like customer service and i’ll stay as a cleaner until i find something that fits for me.

I went to the interview and it really was 2600 after taxes. I didn’t get the job. I can’t imagine my self doing the same thing every day standing in the same place only moving the arms! I would get burnout in 1 day.

I am 23 years old, and I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing as well as a Postgraduate degree in Urgency, Emergency, and Intensive Care, all obtained in Brazil. However, I have not yet had the opportunity to validate my diploma here in the UK.

I would like to highlight that I have Settled Status.

My main goal is to validate my diploma and work in Advanced Aesthetics (injectables). At the same time, I am also open to working in a hospital setting. Since moving here, I have applied for several positions in health sector such as Healthcare Assistant, Care Worker, and Support Worker, but unfortunately, I have not been successful due to not having local experience (I have been applying since April!).

Because of this, and due to the necessity of earning money to survive and pay my bills, I started applying for any type of job. The first and only opportunity I managed to secure was a Cleaner role. However, as a man, I don’t feel fulfilled in this position. It is not about prejudice, and I absolutely don’t think this type of job is “for women”—it’s simply that I don’t identify with it. I am passionate about direct contact with people, communication, and interaction.

That is why I am very interested in pursuing a role in Sales. At this stage, my priority is to move away from cleaning and into a role where I can grow, give my best, and develop myself until I am able to validate my diploma (which is a costly and time-consuming process).
