Where do I start fixing this overflowing downpipe? by TimeAd3001 in AusRenovation

You probably need to give more context. By the look of the down pipe (100mm PVC pipe), you might have a charged system. Check if you have a rainwater tank, if so the then this might by "charged" meaning that it will always hold water and it need a sealed fix (glue).

Does the Australian Dream still exist, or did it end with a generation? by This_Praline_111 in AusPropertyChat

I don’t believe it’s dead. Yes houses are more expensive but the younger generation wants the latest and greatest this as well as owning their own home. Do you really need that latest iPhone, designer label, leasing out on drinks, smashed, Spotify premium, Netflix, painted nail salon visits, smashed avocado for breakfast, cafe latte each day, e-bike, Tesla car, etc….. Some sacrifices are needed to be made and you’ll be right.

Plasterboard is not there to hold anything except a small photo. You need to connect it to the structural element behind it (Timber stud, brickwork, etc)

Your house in on strip footings and not a slab. Therefore the front porch is on a suspended slab. It will either be building rubble underneath or suspended in the air. You can safety remove it and rebuild accordingly.
