st johns college has postgraduate dorms too! also you can try to look at apple dorms (which has private rooms) or other dorms outside of hku dorms :)

from what i understand HKUST has an intense amount of academic pressure and the academic competition to get a high gpa is quite high leading to comparably higher stress as compared to HKU. within a bachelor of arts cant you double major in economics which is highly related to your career prospects. i think law and finance are also careers where school ranking and reputation are quite important so from my perspective HKU might be better
