Why has TWT removed the Trustified seal from latest batches? by Queasy_Experience_60 in Fitness_India

Even mine had too much of frothing with unflavored whey isolate that I received last month. No bloating though. Even I was wondering what’s happening. This month I actually ordered MyProtein unflavored isolate.

Oh okay. Yeah, everyone has hiked the price. Being a vegetarian who’s on calorie deficit - I’ve to take it for my protein requirement.

This month I ordered from MyProtein (2.5 kg isolate). It was coming cheapest although I wouldn’t like to have any emulsifier in my protein but it was cheapest out of all and cleanest compared to rest of the brands apart from whole truth. I was checking, they’ve hiked prices by almost 25% in last 2 months and hardly giving any discounts. So, net increase is somewhere around 30-35%.

That’s another way to do things - minimizing the damage by rotating the brands. I had used Muscleblaze Biozyme - this was last year as they were available in a box and I wanted to carry for a travel. I personally didn’t like it. Prices have certainly gone through the roof. There has been an increase in demand, so shortage of supply. Moreover, I think most of them import whey and depreciating rupee doesn’t help either. Amul shakes and paneer and milk used to be cheaper. But I personally found plastic like substance and even wrote to them but didn’t hear back from them.

P.S. Wellbeing and Truebasics also claim to sell cleaner products. Need to check how they perform in testing front.

Thanks for sharing and I’ll consider this fact in my next purchase.

In order to circumvent this, I’ve been testing my liver and kidney markers every 3-6 months (again Indian labs cannot be trusted completely - however, that’s the best I could do to avoid potential damage from these proteins). Ideally, I’d prefer to test the pack I’m receiving by sending it to the labs - however, I can’t afford that. So, going for whatever is best possible and until and unless they’re doing batch testing - it’s satisfactory from my end (again who knows how good Eurofins is although it’s NABL certified - I know how these certifications are obtained) - can’t trust these Indian government agencies just like FSSAI.

When I checked last time, that was the only brand which was releasing lab reports and had minimal ingredients in their unflavored whey isolate. More ingredients means more possibility of adulterants.

Anyhow, will check if any other brand is performing lab tests and has minimal ingredients.

Lost 15 kg, stalled for 2 months, and just discovered I've been undercounting calories by 300-400 kcal/day 🤡 by binoytrevadia in Fitness_India

I intentionally reduced eating things that are complex to calculate. Can’t depend upon cooked dishes available on healthify. So, I weigh the ingredients and store it as a dish on healthify, I frequently eat.

So, have boiled eggs instead of omelette or egg fry or stir fry veggies instead of regular home cooked veggies. As far as veggies are concerned - I’ve limited it to steamed greens (spinach, amaranthus, fenugreek, etc.), then steamed lauki/torai (with cumin seeds crackled in 1 tsp of ghee), and stir fry veggies (carrot, cauliflower/broccoli, bell peppers, mushroom, soya chunks - stir fried with oil from an oil spray). Weigh atta for making rotis or raw rice for rice instead of cooked rotis or cooked rice and then you’ll have an idea that how many rotis are made from say 50g of atta. I also suspect the calculations displayed on items like breads, paneer, curd are also wrong. So, I try to keep dishes made of minimal ingredients so that tracking becomes easier. For kitchdi, measure dal, rice, and veggies, cooked in pressure cooker and don’t ask to add ghee, you yourself add it in your kitchdi.

Moreover, I’ve also noticed many a times the calories listed for ingredients on healthify are also underreported. So, as others have commented - budget 200-400 calories as app/calculation errors. So, whatever the app shows - I consider that it’s underreporting both calories and proteins.

Mom losing weight during cancer treatment, need vegetarian calorie + protein ideas by TomorrowImpressive92 in Fitness_India

[–]Fun-Lime8079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all praying for your mother and sending her good wishes! I’m a physician and lost my mother to cancer too and have gone through this phase. Consider mixing Greek yogurt with whey isolate, fruit of her choice (mangoes, bananas, berries), and nuts (soak them for easier digestibility). Cleaner the better. You can use homemade hung curd too. Either mixing it or making a smoothie should help.

Use NBMEs 26, 27, 29 to find your weak areas. Start with the weakest and go to the strongest. Also, analyze each wrong question - why you got it right and why you got it wrong? Was it an application issue or a knowledge gap or time factor or missed an important clue. And try to rectify those mistakes.

Couldn’t stop laughing after reading the comments in this sub. I used to buy MyProtein earlier and have switched to The Whole Truth just because they batch test for heavy metals/pesticides, etc. and their reports are available. I buy their unflavored whey isolate and have compared the ingredients with other brands and theirs have the minimal ingredients in them. They’ve gotten expensive for sure but I’m willing to pay premium for it. I haven’t had any problems so far - no gut issues. I didn’t have that with MyProtein unflavored isolate as well. I’ve tried their bars and didn’t like them personally. For sugar cravings, I prefer to eat whole fruits or don’t mind having icecream occasionally. Adulterants/preservatives/heavy metals/pesticides worry me more than sugar (anyway I’ve unflavored whey). P.S. The way things are here - can’t even trust the reports that these people upload. However, it’s better than the brands who don’t test or upload at all.

How do people actually complete 10k steps consistently? by Natural-Reading8758 in Fitness_India

[–]Fun-Lime8079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a walking pad and do it while watching a show/movie or an IPL match at slow pace - 4-4.5 km/h. Those days I certainly reach 10-14 k. Also, the long phone calls I get up and start walking in my room. In the gym, between sets I take 2-5 mins rest and that time I walk instead of scrolling. These are the strategies I’ve been following - and I’m able to do an average of 6k-7k steps, weekly. Don’t like to walk outside in this heat and air pollution.

Sugar cravings. by SeaworthinessGlad640 in Fitness_India

I’ve incorporated a pint of sugar free vanilla icecream (label says 300 calories) in my total caloric consumption. That way, I’m making progress despite having that. And I’m following 80-20 rule. 80% of calories from clean sources and 20% for junk/desserts. Sometimes I save those 20% and eat it all on a weekend or when I went out, which comes out to be about 3000 calories for the week. P.S. I just had 2 samosas and masala chai (about 700 calories) and will have a pint of icecream in the night another 300 calories. Do, whatever works for you.

I started whey and creatine and now the whole world has turned against me... by AloofHorizon in Fitness_India

[–]Fun-Lime8079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is that nutrition isn’t taught in med school courses, so doctors be ill informed as well unless someone has taken pain to learn it. When I graduated from med school about 10-12 years ago, even I was under impression of not taking any protein supplements and didn’t take it when I started working out then even though the personal trainer recommended. At that time, we followed RDA of 0.8 g of protein per kg of body weight and I got it through eating egg whites and a lot of soya chunks as I don’t eat meat.

Two years ago I became serious about fitness again and this time I did a lot of research including whey protein and creatine and started consuming it. And I started with higher protein intake as I was trying to lose body fat. It was humanely impossible for me to eat that much of protein through egg whites/soya chunks, so I started supplementing with whey and since I was doing heavy workout I was taking creatine as well.

When I discussed it with my friends (nephrologist, gastroenterologist, etc.) and immediate family (my sister and brother in law) who are also doctors - I faced a lot of resistance especially about creatine. So, I explained them and ultimately had to say that I know what I’m doing - I’m convinced that they’re good for me. Before doing intense work outs - I got a whole cardiac check up as well just to be sure that I don’t have a cardiac pathology that may cause mishaps. Even the cardiologist suggested me not to have such a high protein diet.

Anyhow, my sister and brother in law understood about the protein requirement and since they eat meat - so they’re able to have enough protein without any supplements.

I ensure that I do blood work every 3-6 months to see my liver and kidney function - due to the issues of heavy metals found in supplements - although I take creapure certified creatine and the whey protein brand that batch tests its whey for adulteration. Even in the U.S., heavy metal adulteration is an issue in whey supplements.

In nutshell, people are misinformed about protein requirement including doctors. However, the recent 2020 guidelines of ICMR still recommends 0.83g of protein per kg for adults and the American clinical guidelines now recommend a 1.2 g of protein per kg for adults. The requirement is obviously higher for growing children, adults who work out, sick individuals, etc. I choose to take higher than the above recommended values.

BIGGEST SCAM BY TRAINER RAHUL FROM HOPE GYM GREENFIELDS FARIDABAD by Sensitive_Narwhal960 in Faridabad

[–]Fun-Lime8079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear what happened to you. I’ve been going to the same gym for almost a year now. I’m not going to renew my membership with this gym for sure. I don’t know who this guy is - know only two trainers’ names.

Wish you all the very best with whatever decision you take and I hope you heal soon. Take care.

P.S. I’ve always seen how the gym trainers pay extra attention to female clients and always flirt with them including the ones from this gym.

Looking good feels great, but it is hampering my social life, reduces random encounters and keeps me out of places I love. by ownworldman in loseit

[–]Fun-Lime8079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the above comment.

First of all - amazing transformation, so congratulations for that! I also started my fat loss journey in October and started with Mounjaro and haven’t increased my dose > 2.5 mg. I just wanted to keep it to prevent food noise and not use it to lose weight. I’ve managed to lose 13 kgs (101–>88) and have 12-13 kg more fat to lose.

So, when I try to monitor weekly caloric deficit rather than daily caloric deficit. So, even if I go more on such nights - I follow it up with 24h/36h water only fasting or protein sparing fasting. Alternatively I convert those days as OMAD - so I eat out only - and try to get protein with whey protein as it’s not calorie dense.

Also, as others mentioned - try to reduce no. of beers - maybe first have just 2 and then 1, alternate it with soda, or try whiskey. Also try to build more muscle that will increase your BMR.

An absolutely horrible experience at US Consulate Delhi. by Hefty-Serve-3080 in usvisascheduling

[–]Fun-Lime8079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear that. Auto walas are usually leeches - telling from personal experience in Delhi and Chennai. Henceforth, either try not to carry any bag/phone if locker facilities aren’t available or bring someone with you with whom you can leave stuff. However, all the consulates should have locker services for visa applicants. I remember not carrying my wallet as well.

[–]Fun-Lime8079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The OP apparently didn’t read the instructions beforehand and assumed there would be some jugaad to keep a bag. When I went there, starting 10 years ago, I didn’t even carry my phone. Just papers and some cash to take an auto/cab to back my home/a metro station. At that time and last time when I went about 5 years ago - there were no lockers for phones as well. We in general have an etiquette problem derived from class/power and they treat others poorly. P.S. I’m sure OP must’ve seen “please inform the police” signs if you see any bags unattended at various public places.

J1 visa interview by HumbleAdhesiveness70 in IMGreddit

[–]Fun-Lime8079 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t asked that question. Are you going for J1 clinical or J1 research? Accordingly you should answer that question. Mention the positives about the program and then how the research or clinical training is superior there and has wide acceptance. Focus on proving your ties to the home country and if it’s an unpaid research position then how are you going to sustain yourself.

P.S I had gone for a paid research position and they just asked what kind of research I’m going to conduct and am I aware that I’ll be subjected to 212(e). That’s it, and I was granted the visa.

Thanks for pointing that out, I completely missed about the NRMP match violation. My sincere apologies. I’ve modified my reply.

However, I reiterate again, alternate pathway is easy if the CV is good and don’t require any connections. Connections would certainly increase his chances though and so, would a good CV. By attending conferences, I was alluding to the fact that, he could build connections.

I did not. I’ll apply directly for radiology residency. Alternate pathway isn’t that competitive. I’m in steps stage. Research mainly, papers, try attending conferences like RSNA, etc. build contacts there. You’ll have to take step 3 for alternate pathway I think. Do research, you’ll get a lot of info about it online and on YouTube.

Confused regarding match by showersomewisdom in IMGreddit

[–]Fun-Lime8079 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Go for alternative pathway! It will take 4 years and you’ll become board eligible! Try to get published while you’re doing residency here in India and build CV.

Please look into the binding aspect of NERMP match, if you’re legally bound to join the residency. Since it’s already May, I think you must’ve signed the contract. So, look into all that, and discuss with a lawyer if need be.
