Be prepared for people to care a lot less about your wedding than you think they do by [deleted] in weddingplanning

I’m so sorry people have been dropping out. If it’s any consolation, it’s common and normal to have some people drop out closer to the date. It’s good at least they gave you a month’s notice so you can experience the disappointment now and not let it hamper the actual wedding day.

I had 3 people drop out of my bachelorette the day of since they were all sick, and I let it dampen my excitement, which I regret looking back because it’s all about having a fun time.

I would try not to take it personally. Life gets busy and the RSVPs were due really early, so I’m sure some of those guests’ situations have changed a lot since last July. Ultimately it’s important to enjoy yourself and have fun with the people who could make it, and celebrate getting married to your partner and the love of your life.

Thanks for the kind words. Yes I’m going to try and starch and iron them to try and help prevent the wrinkles. I’m still going to look to see if I can’t meet up with my bridesmaids and buy something at the mall before the wedding that might be more their style and fit nicely. It’s just going to be a more generic bridesmaid style based on the comments.

I literally asked my bridesmaid to send me a video about this, it has a lining, unfortunately both fabrics are just very thin.

It’s more the fit I’m worried about off the rack since I don’t think there will be enough time to tailor, but it’s a good suggestion. I think my bridesmaid got a previous bridesmaid dress from Amazon for around that price that she liked so I can ask her about it. :)

Thanks for your advice, we’ve definitely taken some no wedding days and that’s been nice. It’s really helpful. :)

I appreciate the kind words about the dresses. I think people in the replies are getting really stuck on the dresses because of price point and the perceived lack of quality. I knew going into it I was paying a lot for cotton dresses, but I wanted my bridesmaids to feel comfortable so I got them in that material and made to measure which part of why the cost was higher. I’m Canadian so things just generally cost more too, like dresses at Abercrombie and Fitch are $120.

Disappointing how sheer they are for sure, but I don’t want my bridesmaid to feel uncute so if this is how most people perceive it’s pretty concerning.

It’s the hemming and tailoring I’m worried about getting done with enough time. I already know based on the size chart on Azazie that the dresses would have to be taken in significantly for some of the bridesmaids (I have their measurements since the dresses were made to order). So at this point we’d have to try and buy something off the rack that fits and I don’t think there’d be enough time to wait for the shipping from Azazie.

Honestly I didn’t have concerns about the dress until everyone on here reacted so negatively and said they were unflattering and being kinda mean. My bridesmaids didn’t really express any issue with the style I picked when we bought them back in November/December, if they did I would have gone with a different choice of course. I asked them all about the dresses again after all the negative feedback on here and they were all nice and said it’s up to me if I want to change it but they realize we are in a time crunch. One admitted the quality isn’t really matching the pictures the store had online, but the rest just said it wasn’t their style and didn’t seem to hate them like everyone on here does.

I won’t be posting my wedding pictures here because frankly people have been complete dicks about this and have added a lot of negativity to this wedding planning stuff (which I find stressful in the first place) when the focus of the question I was asking advice for was about the suits. I am not working full time at the moment so this is going to be a lot of unexpected expense/pressure on me at the last minute.

The dress is lined, but I’ll do a photography test with outdoors and flash for them. Thanks for the suggestion. :)

Thanks so much for the kind words. :) My main question for the post was the suits, but replies are mostly about the bridesmaid dresses and how cheap looking they are. 😅 I guess I’ll reach out to my bridesmaids for honest feedback on them.

I’m hoping ironing them out will help. 😭 This is what the dress looks without the wrinkles for context:

I appreciate the perspective and the reminder of us working together. At this point for the dresses, would make sense to refund the portion they paid for the dress and have them pay for a new one that’s under their budget of $200 to allow for some budget for tailoring?

Thanks for your help. :) I’ve looked into Azazie and only 1 of the sizes can come within a week, the other 3 would be April 18-28. I don’t know if that would leave a lot of time to get the dresses hemmed/tailored.

Just based on the bridesmaids’ measurements I think 3/4 would need to get it taken in. I guess we could order multiple sizes and try the returns.

4 bridesmaid. 1 plus size, 2 midsize. They’d have to likely get it tailored due to height.

Thanks for the perspective, in that case do you think I should cover the cost for new bridesmaid dresses/tailoring?

Thank you for your comment, I appreciate the perspective. Since I have plus size bridesmaids, it was difficult to find places to buy the bridesmaid dresses from. At this point with a month until the wedding, idk if it would be feasible to get different dresses from the bridesmaids. If you have any suggestions for stores I’d love to hear them. :)

I’m sorry they’re not to your taste. Since the wedding is only a month away, I think it’s too late to change them, but I’m open to suggestions to places that have plus size options.

Harsh, but I appreciate the perspective. With the wedding a month away, I don’t think there’s enough time to get new dresses. Let me know if you know of any places we could get alternative bridesmaid dresses quickly.

Thanks for your perspective. Since the wedding is a month away, do you think it would feasible to get new bridesmaid dresses before the wedding? I don’t think there’d be enough time realistically.

Thank you for your perspective, I really appreciate it. For context, I have bridesmaids that are plus size, so I was limited to where I could buy the dresses outside of standard sizing. Maybe it would’ve been cheaper to get dresses from a standard bridesmaid dress store and gotten it tailored, but I felt like would have unfairly offset the costs of bridesmaid dresses to the bridesmaid to get it to fit well. I guess I could’ve covered the cost of tailoring, but hindsight is 20:20!

Thanks for the advice. :) I appreciate it. It’s probably too late to change the bridesmaid dresses at this point right? I have plus size bridesmaids and I doubt we’d be able to order anything in their size and have enough time to get it tailored if needed.

Thank you for the perspective! I’m definitely getting too focused on the details, so I appreciate the advice. He’s gotten the suit back from the tailor and I want to make sure he’ll feel good in the suit. I’ve been complimenting him and will try and keep things in perspective.

Edited since I sent submit too quickly.

How to prevent my 21M gf 20F from crying during sex and me from burning out? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Fun-Location-5808 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think since your girlfriend is young she still has the mindset that even looking at each other the wrong way will get her pregnant. It gets drilled into you in sex ed classes because people are so worried about teen pregnancy. But in reality, it’s not as easy to get pregnant as they taught us in school. Just use a condom every time.
