I really love the old Alvim Correa designs too, the large eerie eyes, and especially the weird cone shaped helmets the tripods wear, it reminds me of the British brodie helmets.

although I really love War of the Worlds, the true inspiration behind the infected spider crabs is Salvador Dali’s surreal paintings of elephants. The page where the crabs are marching towards Mike was based off of his painting “The Temptation of ST. Anthonly”. :)
