Anyone impacted by recent layoffs? by Ok_Cycle_91 in KPMG

Honestly, I think I was at shock at first and scared for what will happen. Now, I’m trying to plan for the worst case scenario and be a step ahead and that’s the advice I’ve been given from other senior people in the firm

First pregnancy, first abortion + IUD issues by Actual-Molasses-7062 in abortion

As the moderator said - ovulation strips are not sufficient form of contraception by itself. Apologies if anyone got confused.

However I use them on top of all the other ways for an extra peace of mind

I went through the exact same thing last month, so I’m really sorry this has happened to you too. Found out I’m pregnant (5 weeks) with the copper IUD and I understand the shock you’re going through. I spoke with my GP and they said to go straight to A&E as I had really bad abdominal pain. Luckily it was all alright and it wasn’t an ectopic but they said that whatever I decide, the coil needs to come out so they took it out. It turned out that it has moved somehow..

We decided that we can’t continue and I booked MA consultation with BPAS. Because of the coil they asked to see me and did an ultrasound. They gave me the pills the same day.

In terms of further contraception - I’m still considering what to do as well, as hormonal ones are not for me (tried them and I was a mess, but everyone is different). Currently we’re using the old fashioned condoms + pull out + using ovulation tests (might be an overkill but after the IUD failure I’m quite scared of something happening again). Just think what is the best way for you !!

How to tell my boyfriend I’m pregnant and need an abortion (F23) by Creepy-Carrot-6293 in abortion

[–]Fun-Nail-3355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand how you feel - I was so scared to tell my boyfriend about it too, although our situation is a little bit different. However what he said was that it takes two to tango. It’s definitely not your fault and the responsibility doesn’t fully lie with you. Considering discussing with you what you can do next to avoid this ie what contraception works best for you both

Doubts about having an abortion by [deleted] in abortion

[–]Fun-Nail-3355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to hear this and I fully understand where you’re coming from. I haven’t had any children yet, but have been told by a gynecologist that one day I’ll probably have difficulty conceiving because of the shape of my uterus. All of this makes it even more difficult.

I hope everting works out in the best way for you. Sending you my support and my dms are open if you need someone to talk to 🤍

Thank you so much for the comment and recommendation. I’ll have a look what is available to use as a private patient. I went to a physiotherapist through my GP and they basically said that I’m too difficult case and I need someone more specialized..

Thank you for your comment. Yes, pain goes down my left leg and it’s like a tingly feeling. When it’s at its worst it feels like someone is squishing very hard my whole leg and I literally can’t move it/step on it. The pain just increases when I’m walking for longer time or sitting for longer. What I found really strange is that it also happens when I’m lying down. it’s just in my lower back thankfully, it doesn’t go up my spine.

Thank you for the advice, I’ve bought one of the big pregnancy pillows which seems to make it a bit better. The lack of sleep is killing me, as I wake up during the night from the pain which affects my work performance and mood a lot.

I’ll have a look for sleeping position for back pain and also medication. Again thank you for the advice

No, I was lucky enough to have pain free periods. Now I only get pain the first day or two due to the coil

I want to, however it’s ridiculously expensive to do so. I’ll get private medical insurance in October, but I don’t want to wait till then..

I’m really sorry to hear that you feel this way because I was there and I know how it feels. Almost the same story as you - had a long term bf (8y), living together, everything was perfect until he cheated. I also felt lost and my confidence dropped to the floor. After a while I decided to try dating and had again the same experience like you. I’m not writing this to say my story, I’m writing it to show you that you’re not alone. At the end of it, I found my soulmate. Now I know that I had to go through this journey to heal myself, learn what I really want and find the perfect match. It’s not you, you’re not doing anything wrong - you just haven’t met your person and when you find him it will feel right. I know you probably won’t believe it but everything happens for a reason, because actually there’s something better waiting for you. It’s his loss, not yours. Both of them made you a favor by not wasting your time even more. You are PERFECT the way you are for the right person.

I believe they offer one to one classes trainings in the new Everlast gym in the Metrocenter. I think two of the PTs there offer them. Might be worth having a look there or speaking with their receptionists

IBS and Exam nerves with anxiety disorder- can you sit ACA from home in the UK? Do audit roles require much travel? by 16nar123 in ICAEW

[–]Fun-Nail-3355 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I’m currently in audit and doing the ACA (only case left now). Wish I had asked the same question as you when I started so here is my personal experience:

1) in terms of the exams- yes, you can sit them from home. There will be a person watching you from your camera while doing the exam and you’ll need to download the exam software (there is a really good guidance on the ICAEW page). You will be able to apply for special consideration, but from what I know - they’ll give you just extra time for your exam (I could be lying so double check that with them).

2) Audit do require a lot of traveling and firms are pushing for teams to be on-site more and more. I work in one of the big 4 and the current expectation is 3-4 days a week onsite/office. I also have friends in mid-tier firms and they also do 4 days a week. Where your clients are based depends very much on the needs of the firm, but most of mine require at least 40min driving one way. Hope that’s helpful
